House fires cause many deaths each year.. So, it's important to teach them that fire is a tool, not a toy. Kids must understand that they'd better not play with fire. You should keep matches and lighters out of their reach.
A smoke alarm greatly reduces your chances of being hurt in a fire, especially when you are in your dream. . Also, you ought to have two plans for getting out of your house if there is a fire and practice these plans in the dark with your family.
A smoke alarm warns you of the danger. When you hear it, take action immediately. When you come to a closed door, check it with the back of your hand. If it feels hot, there may be smoke or fire behind the door, so take care. , call the fire department from a neighbor's house. If a family member or a pet is caught inside, you shouldn't go back in. Firemen know how to perform rescues safely.
. Change the batteries at least once a year. You should use the test button each month to see if the alarm and batteries are still working. A smoke alarm lasts about ten years. You ought to change it even if it seems to be working. Every year the fire and rescue service is called to over 600,000 fires, which result in over 800 deaths and over 17,000 injuries. .
A. Once you are out of your house
B. Make sure of working hours of fire fighters
C. A large number of these fires are set by kids
D. Although your friends know how to put out fire
E. So you should have a smoke alarm outside your bedroom
F. But remember, the alarm can work only if it has enough power
G. Actually most of them can be avoided with working smoke alarms
I've often wondered if I might do more good as a travel agent rather than as a psychologist. It seems that I have been more dramatically affected by certain kinds of travel experiences than I ever have.
My trip to Iceland is a fine example of that. The plan was to spend two days in a remote mountain hut in Iceland.I was working on a photograhic book about winter in Iceland and needed to capture images of this amazing region of high mountain peaks, smoky volcanoes, and lakes with floating icebergs.
The moment after we arrived, the weather turned extreme making visibility impossible. It snowed so much and the wind blew so hard that we couldn't leave the tiny hut.We tried to call for help but the radio did not work.Day after day,we watched our supplies of food and fuel grow dangerously short. We got acute cabin fever(幽居病)and started going for walks and ski expeditions outside.Even when the weather finally broke, nobody came to get us even though it was three days beyond our scheduled pickup.By the time the rescue team came to pull us out,we had all given up hope.
From then on,the world looks different to me,as does my life.It would have taken me years of psychotherapy to get to the same point.
Almost everyone has a story to tell, and interestingly, most of these experiences were not altogether pleasant at the time.In fact,it appears that the most constructive lifechanging journeys were those that involved some sorts of awful and uncomfortable events that forced the person to develop new resources, increase confidence, and solve problems in new ways.
James T. Green thought he was having a panic attack.
He took a break from work to walk around the block during a stressful day, and noticed he felt out of breath walking up a slight slope. "This isn't normal," Green thought. He had become a regular biker in recent months and wasn't exactly out of shape. He sat down at his desk, and looked at the Apple Watch on his wrist. His heart rate was through the roof, and the Heart Watch app he was using to check his pulse (脉搏) was flashing warnings. Maybe it was something more serious, he thought.
Although he had blood clots (血栓) in his lungs a few years back, he had been taking medication, and doctors said that it was an unusual condition for someone in their mid-20s.Still, the symptoms (症状) this time were much less serious, and he was feeling stressed, so his mind didn't automatically jump to blood clots. Green's doctor told him it sounded like anxiety. But then he showed her his heart rate recorded by the Apple Watch.
"This is my normal heart rate," Green told her, pointing to the graph in the app." This is where my heart is now. There's something wrong."
The doctor ordered a CT scan. The blood clots in his left lung had returned. An ambulance rushed Green to the emergency room, where he was pumped full of blood thinners. He didn't need surgery this time, but doctors told him that if he had waited, a clot could have killed him.
Green isn't the only person who has discovered a serious health condition after seeing heart-rate data on a smartwatch. And he won't be the last. Presently, smartwatches from Apple to Fitbit and others can tell you your heart rate and track your workouts. But these companies want to go beyond the basics by developing ways to tell you when something is wrong. In fact, it's already happening.

Sitting in the classroom, I felt confused.
Our teacher pointed at the blackboard and gave us instructions. Looking around, I watched as my classmates 1 their heads and started writing. A wave of 2 washed over me-I couldn't read the board, for I couldn't see clearly. It didn't 3 at primary school because my teachers always read aloud what they were writing. But now, I was expected to read by myself.
Mum took me to a(n)4. I was diagnosed with a terrible sight problem. I was 5 blind.
However, despite all the difficulties, I'd amazingly 6 to reach the age of 13! As a kid living on a farm, I was always falling over objects. I could only 7 the outlines of things and contrasts between different shades. I was given reading 8 but they didn't help much.
9 to let my diagnosis hold me back, I continued doing everything I loved, including milking the cows. Over the years, I've 10 lovely family holidays, but sometimes felt like my families were being too 11 to me. So I was thrilled when I heard about a travel company that takes those who are blind or have poor 12 Aussie adventures without families' company. 13, I booked myself onto a trip to the 14. It was amazing to appreciate places, such as the beach and seaside theme parks, with 15 who were just like me. And the incredible guides were great at 16 us through all the way while making sure we had a fun and 17 time. Since then, I've travelled with them a lot. While we can't see the sights like others, our 18 take us to awesome places. I don't want people to feel sorry for me. I'm so lucky to have a wonderful family and lots of 19.
Life is 20you don't need vision to "see" that.
We have studied in high school for several months. When I first (go) into the school and saw my new classroom and teachers, I thought I would have a new start. The school life is very busy and (excite). There are many activities in our school. We all take part in them (active). I have made many new friends and we often help and learn from each other in study. Our (teacher) have taught us a lot. They not only teach us how to study but also teach us how to be useful person in society. They also tell us is worth doing.
People often say, "There is no rule of learning." Now I feel it is true. The study now is far (different) than before. I often find there is something difficult (understand) at once. At this time, I must spend a lot of time (study) by myself, or I won't make progress.
Our school is clean and beautiful. There are many trees and flowers around . In order to make our school more and more beautiful, we should try our best.
The Terracotta Army figures' excavation (发掘)is regarded as one of the greatest discoveries of the 20th century. They (lie) underground for more than 2000 years before farmers (dig) a well in 1974 uncovered what is now considered one of the greatest archaeological sites in the world. So the Terracotta Army Museum in Xi'an is a must-see. The dramatic exhibition (reveal) the secrets behind the 2,000-year-old army of clay statues that guarded the tomb of Qin Shi Huang, the first emperor of China and founder of the Qin dynasty.
They are the incredible, mysterious tomb guardians, discovery in 1974 made global headlines. To date, archeologists still haven't uncovered all of their secrets. The vast stone army numbers some 8.000 (individual) crafted figures. Designed with an impressive level of detail, each figure is one-of-a-kind work of art. The life-sized sculptures vary height according to military ranking, with their uniforms, hairstyles, and even(face) shapes and expressions following suit. The Terracotta Army, (select) as one of Top 10 Things to Do in China, was regarded as the (eight) wonder of the world and awarded as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987 even if the inner tomb itself has yet to be excavated.
Anyway, if you are interested in Chinese history, the Terracotta Army Museum is an ideal choice that should be included in your schedule in China.

How to Be a Winner
Sir Steven Redgrave
Winner of 5 Olympic Gold Medals
“In 1997 I was found to have developed diabetes(糖尿病). Believing my career was over, I felt extremely low. Then one of the specialists said there was no reason why I should stop training and competing. That was it -- the encouragement I needed. I could still be a winner if I believed in myself. I am not saying that it isn’t difficult sometimes. But I wanted to prove to myself that I wasn't finished yet. Nothing is to stand in my way.”
Karen Pickering
Swimming World Champion
“I swim 4 hours a day, 6 days a week. I manage that sort of workload by putting it on top of my diary. This is the key to success---you can’t follow a career in any field without being well-organized. List what you believe you can achieve. Trust yourself, write down your goals for the day, however small they are, and you’ll be a step closer to achieving them.”
Kirsten Best
Poet & Writer
“When things are getting hard, a voice inside my head tells me that I can’t achieve something. Then, there are other distractions, such as family or hobbies. The key is to concentrate. When I feel tense, it helps a lot to repeat words such as ‘calm’, ‘peace’ or ‘focus’, either out loud or silently in my mind. It makes me feel more in control and increases my confidence. This is a habit that can become second nature quite easily and is a powerful psychological tool”
