L1 Get ahead with your English
Many people (predict) in the 1700s that English (will) be the global languages one day, which (prove) to be the case. With the growing international companies and the great advances in communications, more and more people decide to learn English the second language. And the fact is speaking more than one language make you (stand) out. People have realized that in the (absent) of the native language environment, people can not learn it well. In words, you have to be (surround) by the language. Sadly, most of the English learners can not live in the native country, means we can only depend on our school resources.
Death rates for heart disease in Britain have dropped by more than 40 percent in a decade, UK scientists will report today.
Wide uptake of cholesterolbusting station drugs(降胆固醇药), healthier lifestyles and better medical practices have seen a huge reduction in deaths caused by heart attacks, stroke and other cardiovascular(心血管的)problems.
However, heart disease remains Britain's biggest killer.
The new study, by experts at Oxford University, shows there has been a 44. 4 percent drop in death rates among men in the UK and a 43. 6 percent drop among women linked to heart problems in the ten years to 2011.
The team compared death rate associated with cardiovascular disease across Europe. They found that Britain has one of the best records in Europe, with 342 deaths as a result of heart disease per 100,000 men in 2011, and 232 per 100, 000 women.
Some nations—including Ukraine, Macedonia and Moldova—see more than 1,000 heart deaths per 100,000 of the population.
Overall, heart disease causes 45 percent of all deaths across Europe, but only 27 percent in the UK. The study, led by Dr. Nick Townsend, showed that cardiovascular disease is mainly a disease of old age.
But researchers said that across Europe it still causes more than 1. 4 million deaths in those aged under 75 and nearly 700,000 deaths in under 65s. Dr. Townsend said: "Cardiovascular disease results in 49 percent of deaths among women and 41 percent among men."

Slightly larger than the North Island, and much less populated, the South Island of New Zealand is well known for its fantastic scenery and wide range of outdoor activities. Among the many places you could visit, here are some of the best known.
Marlborough Wine Region
The largest wine area in New Zealand(producing more than half of New Zealand's wine), Marlborough is home to New Zealand's most famous wine, made from the sauvignon blanc(长相思) grapes. Take a car and spend a few days visiting some of Marlborough's wineries(酿酒厂). Most have wines available for tasting and a number of them also have their own restaurant or cafe, where you can enjoy the wine alongside.
Kaikoura
The charming background of Kaikoura is the snow-capped mountain range which seems to come all the way down to the sea. Among the many activities here—fishing, hiking, kayaking(划独木舟) and even bird watching—the one not to miss is a boat trip on the bay to see the whales. Kaikoura is in fact one of the best places in the world for whale watching.
Queenstown
On any list of places to visit in New Zealand, Queenstown should be at the top. This alpine(高山的) town has things to do for all seasons, and impressive scenery that is among the country's very finest. Located on the shores of Lake Whakatipu, there is a full range of water as well as land-based activities. In the winter Queenstown is the place for the best skiing in New Zealand.
Milford Sound
Mitre Peak is a mountain which seems to rise out of the waters of Milford Sound and is one of the most photographed and recognisable New Zealand sights. Milford Sound lies in the southwest corner of the South Island. The water is surrounded on either side by rock faces that rise at least 1, 200 meters (3, 900 feet) and after rain hundreds of waterfalls appear, some up to a thousand meters long.
It is no wonder that Milford Sound was described by Rudyard Kipling as the "Eighth Wonder of the World".
Trust has been considered as the basis of any relationship, including friendship. No relationship can last long with a lack of trust. Not many of your friends will have real faith in you as you would like to believe. Sometimes, it takes years, even a complete lifetime, to trust someone. However, how do we know if our friends have faith in us?
With whom will you share things that you don't want everyone to know? It would be with a close friend, whom you trust as much as you trust yourself. While a few of your friends may be fiercely protective of their privacy and may not tell their secrets to anyone, whose who do, surely find you trustworthy and reliable.
Whom do you look up to for advice when you need it the most? It has to be either your parents or your friends. This is a shining example of trust. You only seek advice from people you hold in high regard and find dependable. The friends who trust you will never forget to include you in the important decisions of their life.
Arguments and heated discussions are a part of every relationship, and this is also true for friendship. While some people find it difficult to forgive and forget, your friends will never have problems moving on. It is because they trust you and believe that you will never cause any pain to them on purpose.
There are times in life when you find yourself a lonely soldier. Your friends will never let you down and will strongly stand by you when you need encouragement. You can determine that they trust you and believe in your beliefs, if they side with you when you need the most.
A. People can be extraordinarily jealous sometimes.
B. You know they will never pass on wrong suggestions.
C. In fact, winning trust is, by far, the most challenging aspect of relationships.
D. Two people cannot have identical reactions to a situation and different opinions do exist.
E. No matter how close you are to your friends, you cannot take that comfort level for granted.
F. If your friends share their secrets, there's a good possibility that they have much faith in you.
G. However, people who are fortunate to have been blessed with true friends are never alone in any battle.
