Flower Fun

Aaaaaahhhhh! It was that time of year again time to plant flowers in the first season of the year. Christina and her dad were trying to decide what kind of flowers to plant this year. Her dad showed her an ad in the morning paper. He wanted Christina to check it out so she could help him decide what they should buy. The two always like to surprise Christina's mom with beautiful flowers before her "big day" in May. Christina was surprised to see Flower Power was having a sale. She knew they had better hurry to the store.

    Most children with healthy appetites(胃口) are ready to eat almost anything we give them and a child1hates food whether it is badly cooked or not.

    On the other hand, we have many ways to improve a child's appetite. Never ask a child whether he likes or dislikes a food and never2about what we like or dis- like in front of him or let anybody else do it that way. If the father says that he hates fat meat or the mother says that she refuses vegetables in the child's presence, he is more likely to copy(复制) these3. If we don't do these things, we're sure that he likes everything and he probably will. A child should not4any healthy food from the meal because of a supposed(假想的) dislike. At meal times it is a good5to give a child a little food and let him come back for a second helping rather than( 而不是) give him as6as he is likely to eat all at once. Don't talk too much to the child during meal times7let him get on with his food, and don't allow him to leave the table right after a meal or he will8learn to swallow(吞咽) his food, so he can hurry back to his toys. The last tip is that we never coax(哄劝) a child or force(强迫) him to eat the food.

    In this way, our children will enjoy their meals every day.
