With more responsibilityyou will find more freedom to make your own choices. This is a time to be well informed about your choices so that you can make healthy balanced decisions that will help shape your future. You may already know your career path or you may have no idea at all what you want to do. Both situations are fineWork hard and the right opportunity will present itself to you.

Young adulthood means greater freedom and more choices. You will probably want to be independent. But try not to shut your family out of your life. You should learn to think of others even though you are old enough to look after yourself. Your family have been with you since you came into this world.

It is also perfectly natural in this time for you to spend more time with your friends than your family. Choose your friends wisely. A true friend will stand by you no matter what happens.

This period is part of the life cycle. There are some people who will be with you throughout life's journey and there will be some people with whom you part and go separate ways. Leaving school can be hard. The reality is that you may not ever see all of your classmates again.

I received a call today asking if I would be willing to bring food to a family in need. The mother was having a major operation and would be lying down for several weeks. Of course, I responded with an immediate “Yes”. As I planned the meal in my head, I reflected on how many times over the years I had been asked to prepare food. I have done so countless times with a very open heart.

But the truly amazing thing is that I have received double over the course of my life. When my mother passed away, our house was filled with fresh dinners for weeks. A woman from the church of our community stopped by each evening with some food. The gift of food was her small way of trying to ease our pain.

Later in my life, when I was on bed rest during my pregnancy with twins, women of the church again stepped in to help. They arranged babysitting for my two year old daughter, and brought lovely dinners to our house. Even when I was put in the hospital, my husband would bring cooked meals to my hospital room. How we relied on these dinners to feed my tired husband and young daughter.

Food is all about comfort. It feeds our bodies, but it can also feed our souls. When you hear people talking about their favorite holidays, it usually includes their feelings connected with sharing food. I know that I will have many more opportunities in my lifetime to prepare food for others. It is truly a gift I want to prepare and deliver to someone in need.

47. According to the passage, which of the following conclusions can we get?

CActions speak louder than words.        DEvery man has his faults.

Some people will do just about anything to save money. And I am one of them. Take my family's last vacation. It was my six-year-old son's winter break from schooland we were heading home from Fort Lauderdale after a weeklong trip. The flight was overbookedand Delta, the airlineoffered us $400 per person in credits to give up our seats and leave the next day. I had meetings in New Yorkso I had to get back. But that didn't mean my husband and my son couldn't stay. I took my nine-month-old and took off for home.

The next day, my husband and son were offered more credits to take an even later flight. Yes, I encouraged—okay, ordered—them to wait it out at the airport, to “earn” more Delta Dollars. Our total take: $1600. Not bad, huh?

Now some people may think I'm a bad mother and not such a great wife either. But as a bigtime bargain hunter, I know the value of a dollar. And these days, a good deal is something few of us can afford to pass up.

I've made a living looking for the best deals and exposing (揭露) the worst tricks. I have been the consumer reporter of NBC's Today show for over a decade. I have written a couple of books including one titled Tricks of the Trade: A Consumer Survival Guide. And I really do  what I believe in.

I tell you this because there is no shame in getting your money's worth. I'm  also tightfisted when it comes to shoes, clothes for my childrenand expensive restaurants. But I wouldn't hesitate to spend on a good haircut. It keeps its shape longer, and it's the first thing people notice. And I will also spend on a classic piece of furniture. Quality lasts.

48Why did Delta give the author's family credits?

A. They took a later flight.              B. They had early bookings.

C. Their flight had been delayed.         D. Their flight had been cancelled.

49What can we learn about the author?

A. She rarely misses a good deal.         B. She seldom makes a compromise.

C. She is very strict with her children.      D. She is interested in cheap products.

50What does the author do?

A. She's a teacher.              B. She's a housewife.

C. She's a media person.         D. She's a businesswoman.

Forgiveness

To forgive is a virtue, but no one has ever said it is easy. When someone has deeply hurt you, it can be extremely difficult to let go of your hate. However, forgiveness is possible, and it can be surprisingly beneficial to your physical and mental health. People who forgive show less sadness, anger and stress and more hopefulness, according to a recent research.

__51__ Try the following steps

Calm yourself. __52__ You can take a couple of breaths and think of something that gives you pleasure: a beautiful scene in nature, or someone you love.

Don't wait for an apology. Many times the person who hurt you does not intend to apologize. They may have wanted to hurt you or they just don't see things the same way. _53__ Keep in mind that forgiveness does not necessarily mean becoming friends again with the person who upset you.

Take the control away from your offender(冒犯者). Rethinking about your hurt gives power to the person who caused your pain. Instead of focusing on your wounded feelings, learn to look for the love, beauty and kindness around you.

__54__ If you understand your offender, you may realize that he or she was acting out of unawareness, fear, and even love. You may want to write a letter to yourself from your offender's point of view.

Don't forget to forgive yourself. __55__ But it can rob you of your self-confidence if you don't do it.

AWhy should you forgive?

BHow should you start to forgive?

CRecognize the benefits of forgiveness.

DTry to see things from your offender's angle.

EFor some people, forgiving themselves is the biggest challenge.

FTo make your anger die away, try a simple stress-management technique.

GIf you wait for people to apologize, you could be waiting an awfully long time.

Dear Susan,

I'm very gladly to hear you are coming to visit me the next Friday. Unfortunate, I won't be able to meet you at the airport although I have classes in the afternoon. You won't find difficult to get to the city center. The airport bus leaves every 30 minute and will take you rightly to the Friendship Hotel. My classes will be over by then or I will pick you up there. I will take you to a hot pot restaurant for dinner and we'll talk with our plan for the weekend over dinner. Having a pleasant trip and see you Friday.

Yours,

Zhang Ming
