Although it was autumn, the snow was already beginning to fall in Tibet (西藏). Our legs were so heavy and cold that   1   felt like big pieces of ice. Have you ever seen snowmen ride bicycles? Welcome to Phillip Island Nature Park and the penguin parade (企鹅列队). You will see the world’s smallest penguins— the little penguins appearing from the ocean (大洋) and crossing the beach to their home in line. It’s a natural experience. Making the most of your visit

Here are some helpful hints (提示):

●The penguin parade last 50 minutes from the time penguins first cross the beach.

●Dress in warm clothes, for the parade is in the open air on the beach.

●It is best to get down to the beach at least 15 minutest before the parade begins.

Protecting the Penguins

We do have some simple rules—designed to protect the penguins and make your visit more enjoyable.

●Photography (摄影)—including video camera is not allowed (允许). Make sure that your camera is put inside your bag, or in a bag provided, before walking down to the beach, Photos can be bought at proper price in the gift shop.

●Smoking is not allowed anywhere.

●And remember, the penguins are wild birds so please don’t try to touch (触摸) them.

A fish that lives in America can live out of water for months at a time.

The Mangrove Rivulus, a kind of little fish, lives in small pools of water. When their living place dries up (干涸), they live on the land, said Scott Taylor, a researcher in Florida.

The fish can grow as large as three inches. They group together and take in air through their skin before they can find water again.

The new scientific discovery (发现) came during a trip.

“We were travelling for fun and one day I kicked over a log (圆木) and the fish came out.” Taylor told reporters by telephone. He said he would make his study on the fish known to the public in an American magazine early next year.

In lab (实验室) tests, Taylor said he found the fish can live up to 66 days out of water without eating.

Some other fish can live out of water for a short time. The walking catfish found in Southeast Asia can stay on land for hours at a time, while lungfish (肺鱼) found in Australia, Africa and South America can live out of water, but only in a not active (活泼的) way. But no other known fish can be out of water as long as the Mangrove Rivulus and keep active, said Patricia Wright, a biologist (生物学家) at a Canadian University.

More studies of the fish may tell how animals changed over time.

Last July, my 12-year-old car died on California’s Santa Freeway. It was an hour before sunset, and I was 25 miles from home. I couldn’t reach anyone to pick me up, so I decided to take a bus. Not knowing the routes, I thought I’d just go east. A bus stopped. I got on and asked the driver how far she was going. “Ten more miles,” she said. There was another bus I could take from there.
