Patong Beach

Patong Beach is not only one of the most beautiful and popular beaches in Thailand, but it is the largest beach on the popular island of Phuket. The soft white sand is a great place to relax. Some of the many great activities that travellers can join in during a visit to Patong Beach include jet skiing, kayaking, surfing, diving, snorkeling(浮潜), swimming and more.

Haad Rin

Haad Rin is one of the most popular party spots in the country, for both locals and travellers. All month long, during most parts of the year, there are some special entertainment(娱乐), eating, and socialising opportunities.

Jackie visited his grandparents on their farm. And he was playing with a slingshot(弹弓)in the woods. He practised in the woods but he could never hit the target. As he was walking back, he saw Grandma's pet duck. Without thinking, he shot, hit the duck in the head and killed it. He was very afraid. He knew Grandma loved the duck. She would be sad or even angry if she knew that her duck was killed. He then hid the dead duck under a tee. His sister Susan saw it all, but she said nothing.

After lunch that day Grandma said, "Susan, let's wash the dishes." But Susan said, "Grandma, Jackie told me he wanted to help in the kitchen today, didn't you, Jackie?" And then she whispered(小声说)to him, "Remember the duck?" So Jackie did the dishes.

Later Grandpa asked if the children wanted to go fishing, but Grandma said, "I'm sorry but I need Susan to help clean the house." But Susan smiled and said, "Well, that's all right because Jackie told me he wanted to help."

And she whispered again, "Remember the duck?" So Susan went fishing with Grandpa and Jackie stayed.

These "remember the duck" went on for many days. Then finally Jackie couldn't stand it any longer. He came to Grandma and told her that he had killed the duck. She gave him a hug, and said, "Sweet heart, I know. You see, I was standing at the window and I saw the whole thing. But because I love you, I forgave you. But I just wanted to see how long you would let Susan make a slave of you. "

Kitchen

Plan the kitchen to be bright and airy so that you don't have to turn on the lights at daytime. Don't make wasteful use of the gas. Keep all ingredients for cooking ready before lighting the gas. Turn it to low when not required—always using it on "high" burns a lot of gas.

Indoor plants

Plants are extremely eco-friendly and can be used to make your home look lively. Apart from adding life to home, they give out O₂, thus making the air inside fresh. You can keep plants in your home, but be sure to show them some sunlight regularly. Also, if they are kept outside, clean their leaves with a wet cloth, as dust may be added to them. A home decorated(装饰) with plants looks attractive. Plants are natural home decorative gifts that show concern about the environment. A green plant is a wonderful gift which will protect the earth and is sure to be appreciated.

Saving water

Most of the time, we take water for granted—we keep water running while brushing our teeth or washing clothes. Needless to say, this is a huge waste of natural resources(资源). Try to recycle water. For example, the water used for washing vegetables can be used for watering plants; the soapy water used for washing clothes can be used to clean the bathroom and kitchen.

Be a green child

What does it mean to be green? "Green" is more than just a colour. Why green? Plants are green, and without them the Earth wouldn't be such a lovely home for us human beings. What can we do? Here's a four-step guide to being green.

Reduce it!

For instance, a shorter shower means you use less water and less fuel since your house uses fuel to run the water heater that warms up the water.

Sometimes people call ours a "throwaway society". It means that we're always throwing away old stuff and buying new stuff.  For instance, if your baby brother becomes older and loses interest in his plastic basketball hoop(篮球框), why not give it to another family who has a little kid? 

Recycle it!

Recycling has never been easier. Many communities will pick it up right in front of your house and some towns even require it. Recycled goods go to a recycling centre, where they can be turned into new cans, bottles, and paper.

Enjoy it!

It's true that rubbish and pollution are problems, but the Earth remains a huge and beautiful place that's ready for you to explore. Go for a hike, visit local nature centres and gardens, and climb up mountains.

But before you travel the globe, take a look at your own backyard. Is there a spot where you could plant a tree or put in a little fruit or vegetable garden?

I have a degree in business. But it was my father's 1 for me to seek to attain a business major. The 12th China Art Festival will bring a series of art (activity) to the Chinese economic and art center, Shanghai. From May 20 to June 2, more than 50 shows(select) nationwide will be performed in nineteen major theaters in Shanghai, and a fine selection of creative cultural products will(show) at the Shanghai Exhibition Center. The festival will include (vary) art forms, such as opera, dancing, painting and photography.

2019 edition is co­organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Shanghai municipal government(市政府). Since(it) beginning in 1987, the festival(change) host cities in each edition, travelling to areas including Beijing, Sichuan, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Hubei over the past three decades.

Jose was a devoted teacher for a local high school in California. Unfortunately, with the money he earned, he couldn't support his family and extended family in Mexico and rent an apartment in California at the same time. Therefore, having failed to afford the rental of even a shoebox apartment, he had no choice but to live in his old car occasionally to make ends meet until he could find another place to live.

To make matters worse, he found himself living this unfortunate lifestyle after Covid -19 swept the world when California schools closed their doors following the outbreak. This left Jose with little means for making money. So at age 77, Jose ended up living inside of his car. For about two years he was homeless. Home was his car, and his car sat in a grocery store parking lot. During daytime he drove to different locations, looking for job opportunities while he spent most of his nights at the same parking lot, which gave him a sense of belonging.

At day time, he would lean his seat all the way back, so no one would see him because he knew he wasn't supposed to be there and worried the manager of the grocery store would drive him away. He was a man of self-respect and didn't want to turn to charity.

When Maggie, the manager of the grocery store did see Jose, she felt he looked familiar because she used to be in his class many years ago. She could still remember how Jose encouraged her to finish her education when she was struggling with her learning. She noticed Jose spent a considerable amount of time in his car, she suspected her teacher had fallen on hard times. She became determined to help her former teacher in his time of need. So, the former student decided to repay the favor and help her homeless teacher.
