    One day, I had a bad toothache. I couldn't eat anything. So I went to see the dentist.

    "What's wrong with your teeth?" asked the dentist.

    "I have a toothache." I told him.

    "Let me see your teeth… Um, there's a hole in one of the teeth. Do you eat a lot of sweet food?" the dentist asked me.

    "Yes, I do. I often eat ice cream, biscuits, chocolates and I often drink colas and milk with sugar." I told him.

    "All these are bad for your teeth. You must eat less sweet food and brush your teeth at least twice every day. Now let me fill your tooth." Said the doctor.

    An exhausted (筋疲力尽的)looking woman came into the doctor's office. She said, "Doctor, there are a lot of dogs all over my neighborhood. They bark ( 犬吠) all day and all night, and I can't get a good sleep."

    "I have good news for you," the doctor said, taking out a small bottle. "Here are some new sleeping pills (安眠药) that work like a dream. A few of these and your trouble will be over."

    "Great, thank you." the woman was very glad to go back home with the pills.

    A few weeks later, the woman came again, looked worse than ever. She said, "Doctor, your pills are not good at all. I'm more fired than before."

    "I don't understand how that could be," said the doctor, shaking his head, "Those are the strongest pills on the market."

    "That may be true," answered the woman, "but I'm still up all night running after those dogs and when I finally catch one, it's hard to get him to eat the pills."

    If you eat junk food(垃圾食品), you can't really expect to grow up strong and healthy. But if you eat healthy food, you may do so. So how can we know which food is healthy? Unluckily, a lot of food looks good, but it isn't really good, because it contains things that are bad for both your health and the environment. Where are the things from? This is all to do with how people produce food: growing it on the farm, processing(加工) it in factories, storing it and making it ready for you to eat.

    Here's what happens:

Most farmers use chemicals(化学品) to stop their crops from getting sick. Many of these chemicals are kept in the food you eat. Some people believe that this may make people get illnesses. The chemicals may also pollute water and air, and kill lots of animals.

    Waste from farm animals brings a lot of pollution. Some of the waste gets into the water.

    Planes used by people to move food and drinks around also pollute the air.

    Most things that you drink, like cola, taste good, but something in them, including sugar, may be bad for your health. Sugary drinks make you fat and are bad for your teeth.

    What you can do:

    If you can, try and get organic(有机的) food. Organic food doesn't harm the environment. Animals kept on organic farms are treated(对待) more kindly than the ones on factory farms.

    Eat fresh food whenever you can and cook at home. Don't eat out too much. Cooking can be fun!
