    The Father's Day is a day for fathers. The idea for the Father's Day (start) in 1909. A woman named Sonora Dodd thought about (have) a Father's Day while she was listening to Mother's Day speech at church. She wanted to g her father, William Smart, a special day.

In early times, people wore red roses to show respect for fathers were still living and white flowers for fathers that had passed away. Today, Americans celebrate Father's Day in many different ways. No matter how the holiday is celebrated, the idea is for children to let their father know that he is loved.

    Last year, China started testing 5G mobile networks in (数个) cities across China. Hongkou in Shanghai was the first (区域) to get he 5G network into use.

    What is 5G? It's the latest generation of cellular network technology. It is faster and more stable than 4G.5G's benefits mainly come from speed and connectivity. The (优点) of higher speed is obvious. People will be able to use the Internet at a much greater speed than before. Imagine being able to download a movie in just a few (秒). That's how fast 5G will be.

    Such speed is also a great help to driverless cars. Driverless cars must be able to react (立即) to sudden changes in their environment, such as a dog running across the road. This will require these cars (发送) and receive huge amounts of data within very short time. 5G will make this (可能的). It will also allow doctors to do operations far (远离) from them, using robots. So what about connectivity? With 5G, we may develop" (更智能的)"environments. Imagine having a house that turns the lights on when you open your front door.

    No matter where it is gotten into use, it looks like 5G (带来) us a more exciting future.

    In English, feeling "blue" means feeling sad. But in 2020, the word "blue" could mean something more positive.

    The Pantone Color Institute in the US predicts color trends every year. For 2020, it has chosen "classic blue", a color that reminds people of the sky at dusk. The reason is that it brings "calmness, confidence and connection," according to Pantone. As Pantone Vice President Laurie Pressman said, "The color of classic blue makes you feel comfortable and relaxed as well as calm and confident."

    Imagine that you are lying down on the ground and looking at the evening sky. It will make you feel calm and relaxed, as well as make you think on a deeper level. Pantone said that classic blue connects people everywhere as we all look up at our shared sky. "This is a color we can relate to (引起共鸣) around the world, no matter where we live. We look outside the door and we see this color," Pressman said.

    Classic blue also plays into the sustainability (可持续性) movement, as it reminds us of tines when things were simpler and more comfortable.

    "Like blue jeans, it's always there and you're comfortable with it," said Pressman, who referred to classic blue as a "timeless shade". If the color is never out of style, people won't throw "classic blue" things away. We can buy less and save resources.

    So if you want to add some new things to your wardrobe, choose something blue to keep up with the latest trend.

    When I was 19 years old, I worked in a doctor's office as a medical assistant. I was shy and didn't 1myself, so I 2talked with others. I was uncertain about my future.

    I met a doctor there and became good friends with him. He 3 me to believe in myself    and asked me to learn to communicate with others. He helped me accept 4, and then he encouraged me to 5one or two college classes. I did as what he told me and did very well.

    One day, he asked me where I wanted to go ten years later and    6I wanted my life to be   like. I hadn't thought about this before that day. That night, I 7thought about the two questions. It was he that made me 8a different world.

He did it 12asking for anything in return.

    A few years later, I asked him why he helped me.

    He said, "13I knew you could be more than what you were, and because once,   when I wasn't sure whether I could succeed and didn't have the money for school,14helped me."

    After15his words, I was shocked. I said, "Thank you, Joe! I will spread the love to others."

    One day a lion was sleeping under the sun. Suddenly he felt something on his face. Then a small mouse fell to the ground.

    "I will kill you for waking me up! " the angry lion said.

    "I'm sorry. Please let me go. I have a big family to feed." said the mouse.

    "You are of no use to anybody. You are even too small to eat!" the lion said.

    "No one's size tells the value of his life," the mouse said. " But I'll make you a promise. If you let me go, one day I will repay you."

    The lion laughed, "It's impossible for a mouse to save a lion's life. But go and feed your children and never show your face again." The mouse left quickly. After that, he decided to keep his promise.

    One day, hunters caught the lion and put him in a cage. The lion lay there sadly. Suddenly, he saw a small mouse outside the cage. The lion recognized the mouse as the same one he had almost killed a long time ago. Without a word, the mouse began to work, and during the night, he bit through the cage. The lion ran into a forest safely. Before he left, he looked at the tired mouse and said quietly, "I will remember your help, and lions will no longer kill mice as long as I am alive." And so it was I from that day on.

    Don't judge a person by his size or appearance. Everyone has his own value.

    You're either a leg bouncer or someone who gets intensely annoyed by leg bouncing. There's seldom an in-between.

    Leg bouncing, also called leg tapping, leg jiggling or leg shaking, describes the habit of moving one leg up and down at speed while siting. It can happen when sitting on public transport, or at home, watching TV. It can be unnoticeable or powerful enough to make the whole bank of desks in the office feel the shakes.

    I'm a leg bouncer. It can be going for ages without me noticing, until I can suddenly feel the shakes all along my desk. I've noticed other people bouncing legs too, so it's clearly not a habit that's easily ignored (忽视).

    Why does leg bouncing happen? Why is it more common among those experiencing anxiety? "When we are feeling anxious, our body thinks that we're in danger and prepare us to fight the stress, or run away from it." Dawn Templeton says, "This means we are full of extra energy. Our muscles become busy working and that often leaks out (泄露) in the form of foot or hand shaking."

    Leg bouncing can be a way to feel calmer, helping you feel more relaxed when you're experiencing high levels of stress. You can also be more likely to shake legs if you're a "high energy" person.

    The good news is that there's no evidence (证据) to suggest leg shaking does your body any harm, beyond possibly making your muscles a bit painful. The habit is unlikely to cause any long-term damage to our posture, leg, or spine (脊柱).

    The only real negative outcome of your leg bouncing is the annoyance it can cause to others.

    My name is Sam. I joined a club called "passing help" last month. Now let me tell you why I joined it.

    One evening this May, on my way home my old car broke down (出故障). It was 25 miles from my home. I wanted to get a ride, but there was no car. It was also hard to take a taxi. I decided to take a bus home. I went to a bus stop nearby.

    After a while, a bus came but it did not go to my town, the bus driver was a young woman. She was kind and she told me which bus I should take. I waited there for about thirty minutes. But no bus came. At last a car came to me and a woman came out of the car. She was just the bus driver.

    "When I reached the bus station, I got to know that the bus to your town couldn't come, so I returned here. I just can't leave you here." she said, "Get in my car and I will take you back to your home."

    "It is a long way." I said.

    "Come on, Sir, "she said, "Let's go".

    On the way she told me a story. A few days ago there wasn't gas (汽油) in her car. An old man drove her up to a gas station and then back to her car.

    When we got to my home, I wanted to give her some money to thank her. But she didn't accept it. "I only want to help others and do something nice for somebody. Pass it along," she said.

    For a Chinese kid,  publishing (出版) a book in English is quite a big challenge. But Zhang Lu, a 15-year-old student from Beijing, has done so.

    She wrote an English-language fantasy novel, The Vampires of Lorania. Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press has published it. (A)It is their first time to publish a high school students works independently.

    In Zhang's 60, 000-word novel, she describes a vampire kingdom called Lorania. A brave girl named Rose and a Chinese boy fight with bad guys to keep Lorania peaceful. It discusses the meaning of heroism (英雄主义) from the view of a teenager. It tells readers "A hero is one who chooses to stay and fight for what is right, even if he is afraid."

    Zhang studies at the High School Affiliated with Renmin University of China (人大附中) .She has spent over five years working on the book.

    As a big fan of English, Zhang enjoys reading original novels (原版小说) and watching TV series in English. She is especially interested in fantasy novels. When she was in Grade 5, she read The Chronicles of Narnia (《纳尼亚传奇》) by US author C. S. Lewis. It encouraged her to write her own novel.

    (B) With little experience, she did run into some problems, like how to design the story.

    "I read many other fantasy novels like Twilight and The Lord of the Rings to learn somethings. And I kept changing and improving my draft again and again" she said.

    Zhang is happy about publishing her first book. "It gives me a chance to express my ideas, "she said. She has already started writing a sequel (续集) to her book.
