    Thanksgiving Day is a day for (give) thanks to God for harvest during the year. This holiday is celebrated in the United States and Canada.

    In the United States, the first Thanksgiving was celebrated by Pilgrims(清教徒) in Plymouth in 1621. The Pilgrims were English setters(移民), and wished a good harvest. They had  early autumn harvest festival to give thanks to God for new (crop). That was the first Thanksgiving in the United States. The festival  (last) three days. During the festival, men hunted ducks, (goose), and turkeys for food. Women cooked a lot of food over outdoor fires. Everybody outdoors  (enjoy) many games together. Finally, in 1789, President George Washington proclaimed(宣告 ) November 26th as a day of (nation) Thanksgiving.

    There is one interesting thing about Thanksgiving Day. The American Thanksgiving Day is celebrated on the  (four) Thursday in the month of November. But the Canadian Thanksgiving Day is on the  (two) Monday in the month of October every year.

    Every time we go into a museum, we are often told, "(not) touch that!" The Please Touch Museum in Philadelphia is just the opposite. Here we are encouraged to everything.

    My first visit to the museum was one year ago. I was  (exciting) to visit the museum as soon as Mum told us its name.  told us that we could climb and jump, and touch everything in the museum.

    This place is more like a playground rather than a museum. It gives kids the chance (learn) through play. I loved this place a lot and (have) to be pulled away by the arm when we were ready to leave.

    Each exhibit is a hands-on(亲自实践的) experience. I (especial) enjoyed the very large water table and grocery store(食品杂货店). I had so much fun  I didn't even realize I was learning.

    The only problem is this place gets (crowd) very quickly on weekends. So you need to get there early you don't want to be immersed in(浸没于) the sea of people.

    Nowadays square dancing has been becoming popular. Some public places are usually (crowd) with dancers, especially in the morning and evening.

    We all agree that square dancing is a good way to keep healthy, for the old. , it is money-saving. But it also causes noise (pollute). Many people suffer from the noise by the loud music. The can't work, study sleep well. They feel very angry and some argue with the dancers.

    In my opinion, the dancers should turn the volume while dancing. In addition, our government should build (many) public places for them, such as squares and parks. People can have fun dancing without (disturb) others.

    David Smith is a student, and one of his (hobby) is writing. During the summer of 2010, he (spend) four weeks at a summer camp. As well as the usual activities, there was a writing (class). "The teacher was a writer, and she asked us to (talk) about our lives and tell interesting stories. Then she encouraged (we)to write about our experiences at the camp. "

Zhong grew up in a family of doctors. His goal has always been to save as many lives as . Seventeen years, Zhong is once again leading an expert team to deal with the novel coronavirus. Although this new virus (病毒) seems to be (dangerous) to old people than others, Zhong worries little about his own (safe).

On January 18, he took a high-speed train from Guangzhou to Wuhan. After two days, he became the (one) expert to tell the public that the virus can be spread between humans. January 29, he and his team spent over four hours online checking five patients who were in serious condition. The next day, he chose a best way for those patients. With his help, his team (quick) developed a test kit (快速检测试剂盒) for the illness that can show results within 15 minutes.

As People's Daily wrote, "The 84-year-old Zhong Nanshan shows his sense of responsibility as the backbone (脊梁) of our nation."

A bookstore in Kaohsiung got international attention after CNN reported on the unusual decoration (装饰) in it. The store, Wuguan Books, is known as  "experimental bookstore" because of the dark lighting used to show the books on sale. Wuguan Books (lie) at Pier-2 Culture Center, which is full  special cafés and exhibits. The bookstore is almost(complete) dark, except for the shelves (书架) of books. There are over 400 shelves of books in the store, with many (light)placed around books. It appears as if books themselves are lighting up the darkness.

The bookstore  (create)by Chu Chih-kung not long ago, with the purpose of increasing people's senses when  read books. Su Yu-shan, the  (manage)of the store, says the environment can help people learn to do "soul (灵魂) reading" by  (provide) a private experience with each book that draws one's attention.  it might not be for everyone, Wuguan Books creates a very different kind of environment from most bookstores.

Party Works to Serve Us

Since 1921, the Communist Party of China (CPC,中国共.产.党) has been leading Chinese people to live better lives.

Both of my parents joined the Party when they were in university. They are (pride) of it. As members of the Party, they know they (serve) the people. They always take part in community efforts (active). During the (usual) winter holiday in 2020，they joined a team of volunteers to help check people's information and spread knowledge about COVID-19. Their behaviors show me the duty of the Party members. I want to learn more from (they) and be a member of the Party.

When I was younger, my parents told me many touching (story) about the CPC The spirits of Hong Yan, Jinggangshan and Yan'an moved me so much. From that time forward, I became (interest) in the Party.

Many years have passed, I (read) lots of books and watched movies that show the spirit of the CPC. What's more I have joined in many activities that are about the Party in order to learn more about it. Now I am a League (团) member. I believe that before long, I (be) a real Party member, If I become a member of the Party, I will do as much as I can (help) others. I'm looking forward to that day!
