I'm Tony. I'm a new student in a middle school. Helen is my friend. We are in the same class, so we are classmates, too. She is an English girl. She is in China with her parents now. She likes China and she likes Chinese food. She has an egg and some bread for breakfast. Lunch in our school is really good. Helen always has rice for lunch. And she likes playing sports. Ping-pong is her favorite sport. She thinks it is good for her to play it. After dinner, she always does some sports. She has healthy eating habits.

    Early in the morning, Mary goes to wake up her son. "Wake up, David. It's time to go to school!"

    "Mom, I don't want to go," David says.

    Mary asks, "But why? Can you give me a reason(原因)?"

    David answers, "Well, the kids hate(讨厌) me for one, and the teachers hate me, too!"

    "Oh, that's no reason not to go to school. Come on now and get ready."

    "Give me a reason why I should go to school, Mom."

    "Well, you are 50 years old, for one. And for another, you are the principal!" Mary says angrily.

Whales are the biggest animals in the world. They are quiet and gentle. They live happily in the sea. But some countries hunt(捕杀) whales. Japan is one of them. Japan is an island country. Fishing is a big part of its culture. Some schools in Japan even cook whale meat for students.

    ▲    They are part of the ecological system (生态系统). Whales swim up and down. They bring up salt for plankton (浮游生物) to eat. Many animals and plants live on their poop (粪便). When they die, their bodies can feed small animals and bacteria (细菌) for as long as 100 years. 

However, the number of whales is going down. Many people have hunted whales secretly. Fishermen from Japan, Norway and other countries hunt whales. Every year, they kill around 1,500 large whales. From 1986 to 2009, they killed 19,219 minke whales. Some whales have nearly died out because of hunting, such as blue whales. They are in great danger. How can we help them?
