As an English child, I started school when I was five. I studied at this school when I was eleven and I will leave next year when I am 16. So I will spend 5 years at this school. The school year starts in September and ends in July. I have two weeks holiday in December, two weeks in April and six weeks in July and August. I also have one week's holiday in February, June and October. In June next year, before I leave this school, I will take exams in 10 subjects. The exams are called GCSE. All children in England have to study English, mathematics, science and a foreign language. They can also choose some other subjects. Here is my timetable for this year. School ends at 3:15.
Here is my diary for last week. Monday In English, we started reading the play called "Macbeth" by William Shakespeare — it is about a king in Scotland. Tuesday In geography, we are still learning about pollution. It is important but I am bored with it! Wednesday In history, my favorite subject, we are learning about medicine in the past. Next week we are going to a museum in London to see some old medical things. Thursday I went to the cinema with Tom after school. Friday I walked to school with Matthew and I gave him a football for his birthday.

Different types of maps have different uses. Tourist maps, for example, have signs to show places of interest in an area. When tourists read these maps, it is easy for them to find where to go and what to see in a place and it is easy for them to go and find their ways to these places. Road maps show large areas so that people can plan long journeys. Different types of roads are given different numbers. For example, if you want to go to Wood Green, you just follow No. 621 Road and keep looking at the road signs. Distribution maps (分布图) use colors or signs to show facts about an area. For example, where different languages are spoken, how many people live in an area, how cold and hot some places are, or if a place is short of water. Some maps, such as railway maps, use straight lines to show everything. This is easy for people to read. Trains are fast. People don't have to think about small places they go past. They just need to know the two ends of their trips.

It should come as no surprise that kids are spending a lot of time in front of screens. According to a new study, teens from 8 to 12 years of age spend an average of fourandahalf hours each day watching TV or using a digital device(数码设备). For teens from 13 to 18, the average is sixandahalf hours. But those numbers hide a bigger, more complex picture. Common Sense Media conducted the study. Here are some truths and some myths (错误看法) that the study revealed(揭示): Truth 1: Some teens spend too much time looking at screens. Young people are still spending time watching television, especially tweens. One in five tweens uses screen media more than six hours each day, and 18% of teens are looking at their screens for more than 10 hours a day. Myth 1: This is the end of reading. While the average time young people spend reading, either in print or on a screen, is only 30 minutes per day, kids who took the survey say reading is one of their favorite activities. Truth 2: Boys prefer video games; girls prefer social media. Among tween boys, 71% enjoy playing video games, twice as many as tween girls. And while more than 25% of teen boys list playing video games as their favorite media activity, only 2% of teen girls do. Teen girls, meanwhile, spend about 40 minutes more each day on social media than boys do. Myth 2: The Digital Revolution is making young people more creative than ever. Tweens spend an average(平均)of five minutes and teens nine minutes per day making something creative with all their digital tools, whether it's art, music, or writing.

The three books can help you teach your children about their feelings and how to manage them. As a primary school teacher, I've used them to teach my students about different feelings. Helping children learn to express and manage their feelings can lead to an increase in confidence(自信心).

Opposite Day Opposite Day is on January 24th each year. It is a strange but fun day. Whatever you say on this day must be the opposite of what you mean. If you say 'yes', you mean 'no'. Opposite Day can be a very useful day for students to get out vocabulary notebooks and find the opposites, to different words. Students could focus on prefixes that are used to give a word an opposite meaning, for example, 'un' in 'unhelpful' and 'unnecessary', or 'il' in illegal' and 'illogical'. Inspire Your Heart With Art Day January the 31st is Inspire Your Heart With Art Day. On this day, you can create your very own work of art or go and visit art museums. People should take the time to find out art and make it a bigger part of their lives. Art can change our way of looking at the world. Unluckily, many of us stop being creative when we move from childhood to adulthood. There is so much art around us but many people take little notice of it. There is so much art in the places we work, live and play in that we don't even have to step into an art museum. World Read Aloud Day World Read Aloud Day is celebrated each year on the first Wednesday of March.
