In the first semester (学期)of college, Professor Kelly lectured us in his Acting I class about the importance of taking the business of acting seriously. As I prepare to take on my senior year, I think back on the first semester and I consider my seriousness and my love, for the art of theatre. I'm pleased to say that, for the most part, my determination remains as strong as ever.

Even after I've learned about the difficulties and heartbreak that go with pursuing (追求) work as an actor, I know that it is still the right path for me. Something Professor Kelly said in that first acting class has stuck with me through these last three years. He said, "Every actor chooses to act for their own reasons — personally I do it because I have to. I have to perform. It's who I am." For as long as I've been performing,I've wondered how to best describe why I do what I do. Professor Kelly answered that question for me that day.

When I was little and first imagined what it would be like to be a real actor, I would imagine being famous someday. However, I never actually wanted that. Fame was never my reason for putting my heart into my work. I did it because I was myself.

There was never a question of what I wanted to do with my life. If I didn't pursue acting, I had no idea what I would do. I was lucky that my family understood me. They knew from the start that nothing was going to keep me from doing what I loved.

  3. (3) What does the underlined word "that" in Paragraph 3 refer to?
A . Earning lots of money. B . Being on stage one day. C . Treating his work seriously. D . Becoming famous one day.
  4. (4) What is the attitude of the writer's family towards his dream?
    A . Surprised. B . Supportive. C . Worried. D . Unknown.
  5. (5) What is the writer mainly talking about in the passage?
A . Why he chose acting. B . Why he went to college. C . What he wants to improve. D . What he cares about in life.

Eating healthily is an increasingly popular goal, but lunch is a meal that is sometimes difficult to prepare and is often skipped (略过). Packing lunches for work or school is sometimes done with less attention than other meals. To form healthy eating habits and plan healthy lunch ahead of time, you can consider these healthy lunch ideas.

Packing lunch for work or school depends largely on equipment(设备) for the kitchen. Workers can enjoy the convenience of a refrigerator and a microwave at their office, but children in school can't. Many kids prefer eating French fries, hamburgers and so on instead of vegetables and fruit. They won't always eat lunch prepared in their school canteen either. It's important for parents to provide foods according to a standard diet.

Packers who have refrigerators and microwaves can have various healthy lunch ideas. Yogurt and cheese are good choices for dairy diet and require no preparation. Besides, a salad with vegetables prepared ahead of time or cooked chicken or eggs is another healthy lunch idea. If you prefer hot lunch, try lowcalorie food. Those who are also concerned about calorie intake (摄入量) can drink water with their lunch to increase their feeling of fullness without adding calories.

If you are able to have lunch at home, you can prepare any healthy lunch, such as vegetables, rice or noodles.

Even though lunch needs to be quick, skipping lunch or stopping at a convenience store is not a healthy choice. Healthy lunch doesn't have to be given up because of the time limit if you plan ahead and consider it as important as other meals. There are other advantages of planning and carrying out healthy lunch, for example, having more energy throughout the day, becoming more productive and saving money on eating out.

  1. (1) What does the writer show in Paragraph 2?
A . Fast food replaces many workers' lunch. B . The food in some school canteens is unhealthy. C . Many students fail to develop healthy eating habits. D . Some students refuse lunch provided by their parents.
  2. (2) What does the underlined word "various " in Paragraph 3 mean?
A . Different kinds of. B . Similar shapes of. C . Hard tasks of. D . Expensive orders of.

A . Children should spend enough time on lunch. B . Lowcalorie food often requires less preparation. C . Students can buy bread for lunch if time is limited. D . Eating healthy lunch can improve your work performance.
