    Federica Bertocchini is a beekeeper in the Institute of Biomedicine and biotechnology of Cantabria in Spain. She finds by that these worms are able to break down the plastic bags. Plastic bags have holes all over them when the worms are inside.

    According to Bertocchini, she the chance discovery after taking away the worms from beehives (蜂箱). She put the worms in a plastic shopping bag. She says the worms can do damage to a plastic bag in than an hour. The researchers did an experiment (实验) in the institute. When 100 worms placed into a normal British plastic shopping bag, the holes began to appear in just 40 minutes. After 12 hours, the researches saw an obvious reduction in plastic mass.
