In nature, you may see many insects (昆虫) and animals of different colors. Do you know why? Locusts (蝗虫) are very delicious food for birds, but it is not always easy for birds to catch them. That is not because locusts are good jumpers or runners. Is that because they are smarter than their enemies (敌人)? The answer is “no”. The reason is that the colors of locusts change with the colors of crops (庄稼). When crops are young, locusts look green. They are animals that live in the south of the Yangtze River in China. They have hard scales (鳞). They are also known as scaly anteaters (食蚁兽) and help to protect trees in the forest. They are Chinese pangolins (中华穿山甲). But they are in danger now. Experts said that Chinese pangolins are functionally extinct (功能性灭绝）, Beijing News reported.
