How do you usually spend your spare time? Many people choose to be couch (沙发) potatoes, but not Luo Han, a 9-year-old from Changsha, Hunan. Luo Han completes at least two hours of outdoor activities every day and has raised a weave of (一波) discussion online. Although he is in primary school, he has already mastered sports like kayaking (皮划艇) and paddling (划桨). His aptitude (才能) for outdoor sports is due to his father Luo Ge, who actively encourages him to enjoy nature, rather than focusing only on his learning. After noticing that Luo Han did not go out for enough exercise after school, his father took him to do outdoor activities every day.
“Exercise can ease brain fog (脑疲劳) and improve memory. Many students feel stressed about school work, so outdoor activities can help us keep our moods uplifted and improve our learning efficiency (效率),” said Liu Yu, 18, a university freshman.
However, some have also expressed their concerns.
“Two hours isn’t too much for a 9-year-old, but it might be difficult for high school students to guarantee (确保) the time when school becomes more demanding,” said Huang Xi, 16, from Liyang High School of Jiangsu Province.
Ms Zhu, who has a daughter in middle school, also agreed that two hours is too much for the majority of parents, especially on weekdays. “When I am off duty, I need to do housework. After my daughter finishes her homework, she prefers to watch TV. Neither of us would think of going outside for exercise,” Zhu said.
Other parents are concerned about the safety of outdoor activities. Zhang Zhijin has a son in high school. “Sometimes, teenagers can do crazy and risky things. We worry about accidents,” Zhang said.

Breakdancing may make its debut (首次亮相) as an Olympic sport at Paris 2024, Tony Estanguet, head of the Paris 2024 organizing committee, said on February 21. Skateboarding, sport climbing and surfing which have already been added to Tokyo 2020, have been invited to return in Paris.
Estanguet said the choices responded to a need to make the Olympics “more urban” and “more artistic”. “We have chosen to present the International Olympic Committee (IOC) with the four sports because they are creative, appealing to youth and completely in line with our vision. They reflect perfectly Paris 2024's identity.”
Breakdancing is an example of a sport “which can be played anywhere and anytime in urban and other environments”. It appeared at the 2018 Summer Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires in the form of headtohead “battles”. In competitive breakdancing, “breakers” face off in “battles” against each other, either as individuals or teams. Breakdancers use a mix of physical and artistic skills combining elements from gymnastics or acrobatics (杂技).
The IOC had announced that the number of competitors at Paris 2024 would be restricted to 10,500, which limited the opportunity to add sports. But the organizers said the inclusion would not need the construction of facilities(设施) and would involve just 248 competitors, including 32 breakdancers. The surfing events are likely to be held in established surf centers such as Biarritz or Lacanau in southwest France.
The inclusion still needs to be rubberstamped by the IOC, which is expected to decide on which sports to add in Paris 2024 after Tokyo 2020.
【1】What do we know about breakdancing?
A.It involves multiple skills. B.It's limited to group competition.
C.It will show up in Paris 2024. D.It never appeared in the world events.
【2】Paris 2024 organizers have chosen the four sports because they ________.
A.attract young people B.perfectly reflect Paris' identity
C.make Paris more urban and artistic D.can be played anytime and anywhere
【3】What can we learn from Paragraph 4?
A.10,500 competitors will compete for the new sports.
B.More surf centers will be specially designed for Paris 2024.
C.The IOC will reject the proposal because of inadequate facilities.
D.The inclusion won't require additional competition space to be built.
【4】Which is the closest in meaning to the underlined word “rubberstamped” in the last paragraph?
A.Recognized. B.Canceled. C.Refused. D.Designed.

American billionaire Elon Musk has showed a technology designed to use a computer chip inside the head to control the brain. During a video show on Friday, Musk provided details about the system, called Neuralink.
Musk says he hopes the technology can be used to treat nervous disorders and help the disabled, especially those with spinal injuries, regain body movement. Musk also believes the system can be used in the future to improve intelligence to help humans keep up with supercomputers and artificial intelligence technology.
During the show, Musk showed off a model of the Neuralink device. It is about 23 millimeters wide. It is designed to be placed into a person's head. Small wires will connect the device directly to the brain.
The Neuralink system is currently being tested in pigs, with plans to seek government approval for human testing sometime in the future.
A pig named Gertrude was also shown during the show. Musk explained that Gertrude had a Neuralink fixed inside its head. The device is meant to record nerve activity in the pig's nose and mouth. Musk said the company had three pigs, each with two chips. He described the animals as “healthy, happy and impossible to be told apart from a normal pig.” Musk said the company was able to forecast with “high accuracy" a pig's leg movement on a running machine using data from the chip.
Musk noted that Neuralink first wants to use the device on people with severe spinal cord injuries to help them talk and move using their brain waves. He said he was hopeful that, in the long term, those people could regain “full-body motion”.
Some neuroscientists said the show suggested Neuralink had made great progress with the technology. However, they warned that many more studies would be needed to test the long-term success of such devices.
【1】What good can the Neuralink device do to the disabled?
A.Making them think clearly. B.Treating their diseases successfully.
C.Having them keep up with supercomputers. D.Helping them to move again.
【2】Which can best describe the pigs with a Neuralink inside their heads?
A.Normal B.Active. C.Nervous. D.Intelligent.
【3】What do some neuroscientists think of Neuralink?
A.It has been a great success. B.It will succeed very soon.
C.It has a long way to go D.It needs support from new theories.
【4】Which of the following can be the best title for the text?
A.There Will Be Great Progress in Brain Science
B.Musk Shows Technology Linking Computer to Brain
C.Three Pigs Are Being Tested Instead of Human Beings
D.The Disabled Will Receive Better Treatment in the Future

Last weekend, my parents and I went to a countryside to visit my grandparents. As usually, all three of us wore masks because the epidemic (流行病). Some cases from abroad was frequently reported in the media, which made us nervous.
When we arrived, many relatives or friends came to see us off. Shaking hands and having small talks with us, they warmly welcome us. But to my surprised, none of them wore a mask! It made them appear funny. But at the same time, it showed that the epidemic situation in China was well under control.
However, masks can not only be used to fighting the epidemic, but they can also be used to prevent the spreads of the flu. So we still need to wear them in the coming winter.
