I once knew a man who was rich in his love for birds, and in their love for him . He lived in a grove full of all kinds of trees. He had no wife or children in his home. He was an old man with blue and kind eyes, and a voice that the birds loved.
While he was at work in the grove, the birds came close to pick up the worms(蠕虫) in the fresh earth he dug up. At first, they kept their distance from him, but they soon found he was a kind man, and would not hurt them, but liked to have them near him.
They knew this by his kind eyes and voice, which tell what is in the heart. So, day by day theirfaithin his love grew in them.
All the birds of the grove were soon his fast friends. They were on the watch for him, and would fly down from the green tree tops to greet him with their chirp(叽叽喳喳叫).
When he had no work to do, he took bread with him, and dropped the pieces on the ground. Down they would dart(俯冲) on his head and feet to catch them as they fell from his hand.
He showed me how they loved him, He put a piece of bread in his mouth, with one end of it out of his lips, Down they came like bees at a flower, and flew off with it piece by piece,
When they thought he slept too long in the morning, they would fly in and_____________.

Sweaty palms shaking hands and a racing heart! This is what many students experience when they take a big test. When anxiety(焦虑)kicks in students can completely lose concentration, leading to poor scores. But is there any solution to such stress?
The key to reducing test anxiety is writing. According to a recent report in the journal Science taking a few minutes before an exam to write about all those fears could help students perform better.
The study was conducted by Professor Sian L. Beilock from the University of Chicago and his graduate student Gcrardo Ramirez.
First the researchers asked 20 college students to take a maths test to get a base-lined score. Next they told the students that they could get a monetary award if they got a good score and that they were being videotaped.
Before beginning the main test the researchers asked one group of students to spend 10 minutes writing down their anxieties about the test while the other group sat quietly. Both groups then took the same exam.
The researchers found that students who sat quietly did 12% worse than they had on the pre-test and the ones who wrote about their anxieties improved their scores by 5%.
Writing enables students to feel refreshed when facing challenging questions on the examination. However experts also warn that such a change will not cause students to become any smarter. It can only make them become more relaxed and focused.
【1】According to passage, what if students take an exam with anxiety?
A.may get poor grade B.pay more attention
C.be videotaped D.to study harder than before
【2】From the experiment we learn that______ .
A.the two student groups took different tests B.they could earn money if they did well
C.they needed to finish the test within 10 minutes D.they were asked to relax before the test
【3】The result of the research has proved that____ .

News does not always mean something completely new and different. News does not have to be something that has never happened before. We would not have much news if that were the case.
What we see on TV, read in the paper, and hear on the radio, and call “the news”, are true stories about people’s unusual experiences.
An unusual happening can be almost anything that is rare in a particular place at a given time. For example, a lion walking on the street is news. In an African village next to a wildlife park with a large lion population, the story of a lion walking on the street would be news only if the lion hurt or killed someone.
Some events and experiences are new everywhere. It may be a long search for a lost child, an accident that injured a large number of people, a natural disaster such as a flood, or a visit by a famous person. It is news if someone wins a million dollars or discovers new facts about the human body. In other words, news does not have to be only sad or frightening.
Another kind of news is information which helps people lead better lives. The latest science reports help people make a decision which air-conditioner would be best to buy. Stock market reports let people know which stocks are rising in value and would make big money.
【1】What can a piece of information be made news?
A.It has to be difficult. B.It must be new.
C.It may be different. D.It can be unusual.
【2】The examples in Para. 4 show that news may also be besides being sad or frightening.
A.exciting or surprising B.difficult or serious
C.exciting or famous D.different or common
【3】Which of the following information is NOT a kind of News?
A.Worst day in a month for U.S stock. B.A man runs in a village every morning.
C.Girl, 9, locked in cage with wolves by dad. D.A woman wins 5 million for the second time.
【4】The writer tries to tell us that .
A.news must happen in nature B.news must be new and different
C.news must be read in the paper D.news must be unusual but true
