*** For your safety at the zoo, please obey all posted signs and guidelines throughout the zoo.
No Pets
Pets of any kind are not allowed in the zoo area. Also, DO NOT leave pets in your car while you are in the zoo. Service animals are allowed in the zoo. However, they are not permitted in the following areas: the petting zoo, the deer forest, or near the big cat (tigers, lions, cheetahs, leopards) habitats.
Follow the Rules in the Deer Forest
In the deer forest, wait for the deer to come to you. Then try to feel them by gentle touches. Never run after or shout at them as this stresses them out. Animals prefer quiet. Also, please stay on the path and do not enter the forest.
Never Cross Any Fence Within the Zoo
Please do not try to touch the animals not in the deer forest or petting zoo. All animals can bite and their habitats are their homes. This is for the safety of both our visitors and our animals.
Do Not Bring Outside Food for Our Animals
All of our animals’ diets include specific foods. Outside food can make them very sick, even if it seems like they could eat it. Feeding the animals is allowed in the petting zoo and deer forest with food that is provided by the zoo.

One summer my friend and I decided to go to Italy for a holiday and we decided to travel there without going through a travel agency. You know, you would be submerged (淹没) in crowds of tourists and lose lots of opportunities to get familiar with the country more closely. We started to think over our trip and managed to come up with a free tour of Italy.
The trip was not very long but it was still very impressive. We look forward to going there again! Of course, we spent lots of time arranging the trip, but it was well worth it! Of course I was afraid that something would go wrong and I was especially anxious about my visa, but everything went quite smoothly in the end.
The most difficult part was getting a visa without an invitation. In the Italian consulate(领事馆), one must hand in some official papers proving that one has a hotel booked for oneself in order to get the visa. Then we had to solve the ticket problem. Airlines often sell cheap tickets and we bought ours far in advance. The next step was to book a hotel. We finally booked a hotel about thirty km away from the heart of Rome and it was the perfect choice for our trip.
Every day we took a train that carried us to the heart of Rome. Our big house, which was surrounded by the forest, was a rare place for the fresh air and absolute silence, beautiful views, hospitable (好客的) hosts, comfortable living conditions delighted us to no end. Besides this, we were very lucky that our mistress was Russian. She gave us a lot of advice that was of great use. She told us what transport to choose and where the best places to go.
Don’t be afraid to arrange your trip by yourself. It’s not difficult! The only thing I’ll say right now is that we really enjoyed traveling by ourselves. We walked with a map and a guide-book to wherever we wanted and we even met some of our fellow countrymen on the way just two or three times. So, if you’re also planning a “single” trip, don’t forget to take a Russian-Italian phrasebook as people in Italy prefer to speak in their native tongue.
【1】Why does the author want to go to Italy again?
A.He had a great time there. B.Italy has a lot of attractions.
C.His friend invited him there. D.He didn’t stay in Italy long enough.
【2】What does the author think was the hardest in preparing for his Italian trip?
A.Buying cheap airline tickets to Italy before the traveling.
B.Getting a visa without an invitation from the Italian consulate.
C.Booking a comfortable hotel on his own in Rome.
D.Solving the ticket problem far in advance.
【3】In the fourth paragraph the author mainly explains _______.
A.the reason why he chose to live in the center of Rome
B.the reason why the hotel he booked was the right choice
C.what transport they chose to travel in their Italian trip
D.the reason why the mistress gave them some advice
【4】From the text we can know the author _______.
A.enjoys traveling everywhere in the world
B.likes being accompanied by tour guides
C.advises us to arrange trips by ourselves
D.met with a lot of his countrymen in Italy

When photographer Simon Czapp took pictures of a curious five-month-old fox, he soon realized this little fox was attracted by his subject. The clever fox was so curious about the camera equipment that she climbed on top of it. And while she was supposed to be the subject of the shoot, the fox stood on the shutter release button (快门按钮) and took her own frames.

Mr. Czapp visited the New Forest Wildlife Park to capture images of new arrival Jessie. Jessie is a lovely little fox. She has been at the animal park in Ashurst, Hampshire—home to wolves, deer and others in 25 acres of ancient woodland after being abandoned by her mother.
Mr. Czapp said, “Jessie was very playful and curious and not shy at all in front of the camera. Soon after I arrived she was chewing my shoes and everything seemed to be a game to her. Then she started exploring the camera I had set up on a tripod (三脚架). She stood on her back legs to look at the back of the camera. She balanced her front paws on it and at one point knocked it over. ”
He put the camera back on the tripod and Jessie soon jumped back up. At one point she had all four paws on the camera and was keeping her balance. Mr. Czapp added, “She jumped up there several times and I realized it could make a good picture. As I was leaving away with the public’s viewing window (取景窗) behind me, I thought I heard the camera go off but didn’t think much of it. However, when I checked the memory card afterwards, I was amazed to see Jessie had actually taken two frames of me photographing her. I couldn’t believe I had been outfoxed (智取) by a fox! Recently, a new study suggests that staying positive through the cold season could be the best defense(抵御) against getting sick.

In an experiment that exposed(暴露)healthy volunteers to a cold of flu virus, researchers found that people with a generally sunny emotion were less likely to fall ill. The findings, published in the journal “Psychosomatic Medicine”, build on evidence that a “positive emotional style” can help defend the common cold and other illnesses.
“People with a positive emotional style may have different immune responses to the virus,” explained Dr Sheldom Cohen of Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh. And when they do get a cold, they may experience their illness as less serious.
Cohen and his colleagues had found in a previous study that happier people seemed less susceptible(易受影响的) to catching a cold, but some questions remained as to whether the emotional quality itself had the effect.
For the new study, the researchers had 193 healthy adults complete standard measures of personality qualities, physical health and “emotional style”.
Those who tended to be happy, energetic and easy-going were judged as having a positive emotional style, while those who were often unhappy and tense had a negative style.
Afterwards, the researchers gave them nose drops containing either a cold virus or a particular flu virus that causes flu-like symptoms. Over the next six days the volunteers reported on any aches, pains, sneeze they had. Cohen and his colleagues found that positive emotions really have the big effect of fighting virus.
【1】The results of the experiments by researchers suggest that _______.
A.people in excellent spirits are less likely to fall ill.
B.the emotional quality itself has the greatest effect of fighting virus
C.people with a positive emotional style seemed more likely to get ill
D.positive emotional people and negative people response similarly to the virus
【2】Dr Sheldom Cohen made studies and reached his conclusion by _______.
A.comparing the experimental results of different groups
B.looking into the forms completed by the volunteers
C.collecting data among people with a cold
D.observing the volunteers’ symptoms
【3】According to the passage, what quality should we develop to fight virus?
A.Clever. B.Hard-working.
C.Optimistic. D.Friendly.
【4】We can conclude from the passage that _______.
A.positive life can lead to success in one’s career
B.physical health is more important than mental health
C.the happier we are, the less likely we will be to fall ill
D.the more we are together, the happier we will be

Sometimes kids lose on their own, like in a neighborhood game of basketball. These situations can be especially hard if there are no grownups around to be the referees(栽判).【4】It's good for kids to learn to play without a grownup deciding everything but it can also lead to a lot of arguing.

I was selected to go on a study tour to Britain. On morning of March 27, we arrived at the airport where we were warm welcomed by our home-stay families. Soon we went to Westminster College to attend in a presentation about the school. A professor gave them a vivid but interesting introduction and we learned a lot about the college. In the followed days we visited some famous scenic spots such as Big Ben and London Eye. We took photo there. On the last day we had a farewell party when students from China and Britain put on fantastic performances including songs and dances.
From the study tour, not only had we improved our speaking skills but also we've got a much good understanding of the British culture.
