To travel around the world is the dream of many adventurous (爱冒险的) people. But very few people can afford a global tour because hotels, food and airplane tickets are too expensive. Some people, however, have thought of some ways to realize their dreams.

Laura Cody and Tanbay Theune, a couple from Britain, decided to travel around the world. They have found a good way to pay for their trips. They look after pets for rich house owners. In exchange, they can stay in the houses for free. They have looked after horses, cows, cats, dogs and fish. In two years, the couple has been to Australia, Germany, Spain and Italy. They have stayed in big cities and small villages. The home owners are usually very generous and have given them food, wine and day trips.

Another person who tries to realize her travel dream is photographer Rhiannon Taylor. She travels around the world to visit, review and take photos of the best hotels. She shares the places she stays in and the food she eats on the Internet with tens of thousands of followers.

With these ways of making money, traveling around the world is no longer a dream. More and more young people are thinking creatively to make their dream come true.

What does “getting along” with your teacher mean? “Getting along” means that both you and your teacher have a way of communicating and getting what you need from the relationship. In your teacher’s opinion, he or she wants to make sure that you are paying attention, being polite, and trying your best to learn. In your opinion, you want a teacher who is respectful to you, answers your questions, and tries to help you learn. You can get along and learn without being friends with your teacher, although it’s nice if that happens.

In every school, kids will say that some teachers are mean or strict, but don’t judge a teacher until you are in his or her class and can see for yourself. A strict teacher may be someone who feels strong about getting his or her job done — teaching you the subject you are supposed to learn. It’s also important to remember that making mistakes is a part of learning. By pointing out your mistakes and helping you correct them, a teacher is teaching you. Remember, in most cases, your teacher is on your side.

Even if a teacher isn’t your favorite, you can still have a successful relationship, especially if you carry out your responsibilities as a student. Here are some of those responsibilities:

● Attend class ready to learn. Be prepared for class with the right pencils and books.

● Listen carefully when your teacher is talking.

● Do your best, whether it’s classroom work, homework, or a test.

24. What is the passage mainly about?

A. Learning from your teacher.           B. Getting on with your teacher.

C. Making friends with your teacher.    D. Understanding your teacher.

25. What does the underlined sentence in the second paragraph mean?

A. The teacher is there to help you.

B. The teacher has the responsibility to be strict with students.

C. Pointing out your mistakes is also a way for a teacher to teach.

D. Your teacher is just teaching you to learn the subjects.

26. According to the passage, which of the following is NOT the responsibility of a student?

A. Listening to your teacher carefully.          B. Attending class and getting ready to learn.

C. Leaning by making mistakes.           D. Trying your best to learn.

China is a land of bicycles. At least it was back in 1992 when I traveled the country. Back then everyone seemed to be riding a bicycle. Millions of them, all black. Cars were rare (罕见的). Yet since my arrival in Beijing last year, I’ve found the opposite is true. There are millions of cars. However, people still use their bicycles to get around. For many, it’s the easiest and cheapest way to travel today. Bicycles also come in different colors — silver, green, red, blue, yellow, whatever you want.

It’s fun watching people biking. They rush quickly through crossroads, move skillfully through traffic, and ride even on sidewalks (人行道). Bicycles allow people the freedom to move about that cars just can’t provide.

Eager to be part of this aspect of Chinese culture, I decided to buy a bicycle. Great weather accompanied my great buy. I directly jumped up on my bicycle seat and started home.

My first ride home was orderly (守秩序的). To be safe, I stayed with a “pack” of bikers while cars on the streets came running swiftly out of nowhere at times. I didn’t want to get hit. So I took the ride carefully.

Crossing the streets was the biggest problem. It was a lot like crossing a major highway back in the United States. The streets here were wide, so crossing took time, skill and a little bit of luck.

I finally made it home. The feeling on the bicycle was amazing. The air hitting my face and going through my hair was wonderful. I was sitting on top of the world as I passed by places and people. Biking made me feel alive.

27. According to the author, why are bicycles still popular in China today?

A. Because they are convenient and inexpensive.

B. Because they are traditional and safe.

C. Because they are colorful and available.

D. Because they are fast and environment friendly.

28. The author decided to buy a bicycle because he intended ______.

A. to ride it for fun                   B. to use it for transport

C. to improve his riding skills              D. to experience local culture

29. How did the author feel about his street crossing?

A. It was boring.                        B. It was lively.

C. It was difficult.                         D. It was wonderful.

30. Which of the following best describes the author’s biking experience?

A. The author enjoyed showing off his biking skills.

B. The author took great pleasure in biking.

C. The author was praised by the other bikers.

D. The author was annoyed by the air while riding.
