Over 1.4million electric cars are now on the road. And in recent years, the price of these cars has been steadily coming down. If the price continued dropping, more and more people would choose this kind of transport. Here are some models.

Tasla S

A group of engineers in California founded Tesla in 2003. They are convinced that they could create an electric car that would be powerful and have zero waste. They achieved that goal by 2008, when the first Tesla was introduced to America. By 2012, the Model S came out---a car that can seat 7 but can go from 0 to 60 mph in 5 seconds.

The Alto Caravan

It’s small and designed for less wind resistance(阻力), and its roof can automatically rise, giving much more interior(内部的) space. The interior is where the style comes in. One end, a large space, can be quickly turned into a large bed, and there is still room for a two-seater kitchen that changes into a single bed, a two-burner gas stove(燃气炉), and an inside toilet.

Energica motors---the electric motorcycle

Made in Italy by Energica Motors, this great electric bike has now hit the US market and was highway motorcycle-approved(允许) in late 2015. And riders can expect to get about 90 miles per charged(充电), with an average speed of 50 mph.

PTV’S--- personal transportation vehicles

Produced by Eco Motion Solutions, these eco-friendly and stylish vehicles are all electric, no carbon footprint ways to move people for various purposes. And it’s so lightweight that can be picked up and carried, as well as transported by airlines, for those with disabilities who need mobility during their travel.

Growing up, we never had an artificial(人工的) Christmas tree—or a cut one, for that matter. Instead, about a week before Christmas, my parents would pull in a balled or potted(球形或盆栽的) evergreen. Daddy said it made “good cents.” Mother said it was a meaningful tradition.

After moving the heavy tree into the house, Mother would decorate it. It took a long time, but decorating the tree was an exciting family event, and after we finished we’d gather around the piano to drink eggnog and sing Christmas carols.

On a warm Saturday morning after New Year’s Day, we’d all go into the backyard, pick a site and plant our Christmas tree. Each year, the yard got a little woodsier(树木多的) as we continued to add new spruce(云杉) or pine specimens. On warm evenings, we loved to sit in chairs and watch the fireflies flit in and out of the branches, as if trying to create their own Christmas tree light display.

One summer afternoon—some 40 years later—I drove by that childhood home and slowed down to savor the memories. The new owners were working in their yard, but when they saw me they stopped and came over to talk. When I told them that I had grown up there, they took me on a tour. When we walked into the backyard, I caught my breath and fought back tears. I was standing in a forest. The couple explained they were from California and had been drawn to the home because of the huge evergreens out back.

When I walked over to admire a Colorado blue spruce, a glint(反光) of silver caught my eye. I could hardly believe it, but sure enough, a piece of tinsel(金属箔) was still wrapped around a branch, shining in the sun.

Somehow, through almost half a century of Oklahoma heat and cold, that remnant(痕迹) of our holiday tradition survived, much like my fond memories of our backyard Christmas trees—memories that have become more treasured with each passing year.

 25. What do we know about the author’s Christmas tree?

. A. Her family preferred a cut Christmas tree.     B. She was willing to decorate the tree.

 C. The tree would be transported to a forest.    D. Her family arranged to plant the tree the next day.

26. Why did the author slow down that afternoon?

  A. To look at the backyard.               B. To visit the new owners.

  C. To observe the new holiday.                D. To enjoy her childhood memories.

27.  How did the author feel when she walked into the backyard?

  A. Touched.       B. Annoyed.        C. Upset.        D. Confused.

28.  What does the underlined part “our holiday tradition” refer to?

  A. Singing Christmas carols.                  B. Celebrating Christmas together.

  C. Planting Christmas trees in the backyard.  D. Preparing an artificial Christmas tree.

Stonehenge is probably the most important prehistoric monument in Britain. The Stonehenge we see today is the final stage that was completed about 3,500 years ago.

The first Stonehenge was a large earthwork, consisting of a ditch(沟), bank and the Aubrey holes, all probably built around 3,100BC. The holes themselves were not for the purpose of graves, but as a part of religious ceremony.

The second stage of Stonehenge started around 2,150BC. About 82 bluestones, some weighing 4 tons each, is thought to have been carried by water along the south coast of Wales and up the rivers Avon and Frome, before being dragged overland again to near Warminster, about 6 miles away. The final stage of the journey was mainly by water, down the river Wylye to Salisbury, then the Salisbury Avon to west Amesbury. These stones were set up in the center to form an incomplete double circle.

The third stage of Stonehenge, about 2,000BC, saw the arrival of the Sarsen stones, which were almost brought from Avebury, about 25 miles north of Stonehenge.

The final stage took place soon after 1,500BC when the bluestones were rearranged on the horseshoe and circle that we see today.
