In a forest, a deer is about to give birth（分娩）. She finds a grass field near a river. This seems a safe place. There are dark clouds in the sky. Suddenly she begins to feel pain. At the same time, lightning(闪电）starts a forest fire. She looks to her left and sees a hunter（猎人） with his arrow(箭）pointing at her. To her right, she sees a hungry lion walking to her. What can she do? What will happen? Will she give birth to a baby deer? Or will everything be burnt by the forest fire? Will the hunter kill her? Or will she be eaten by the hungry lion?

In our life too, there are moments of choice when we are facing different situations. Maybe we can learn from the deer. Just believe in ourselves and do what we think is right.

For many years scientists have said that the earth is getting warmer. Now they have found some new hot cities! In the southern US, they have found that cities become very hot in summer. For example, the city of Atlanta in Georgia has the roof(屋顶） temperature of up to 50 ℃ while it is 27℃ in the street! At night, the outside of buildings stays so hot that the heat of the city causes storms all over the city!

China also has the same kind of problem. Every year more farmland(农田) is used for building factories or offices. More housing is needed, too. As people become richer, they buy more cars. New roads are needed and new car parks are built in the city centers. These all make cities hotter.

It isn't easy to change the situation. City planners say that we should plant more trees in the middle of cities. "Every new street should have trees on both sides," they say. Trees make the temperature lower, so we should have more trees in our parks and squares. Every roof in hot and sunny countries should have solar panels(太阳能电池板）. The electricity from them can be used to run the air conditioners(空调）in the buildings.

People continue to cut down forests around the cities. This makes the problem worse. Cities are growing faster and faster. By the year 2025, four fifths of the population will be living in cities. If we go on like this, there will not be enough farmland to feed everyone in the world.

Today, pizza is one of the world's favorite foods. All over the world, people make different kinds of pizza. But where does pizza come from? And who made the first one?

People have been making food like pizza for a very long time. Thousands of years ago,some people mixed flour(面粉）with water to make dough(生面团）. Then they cooked it on hot rocks. Over time, people started using the cooked dough as a plate, covering it with different other foods, like onions, carrots and chicken. They had made the world's first pizza.

Then, in the 1500s, some Europeans brought the first tomatoes back from the Americas. Tomatoes are necessary in making many pizzas today. At first, however, most Europeans thought eating tomatoes would make them sick. So, for about 200 years, few people ate them.

Slowly, people learned that tomatoes were safe to eat, as well as delicious. Later, cooks in Naples, Italy, started the tradition of putting tomatoes on dough. It soon became a favorite food for poor people all over Naples. In 1830, a cook in Naples took another big step in the history of pizza—he opened the world' s first pizza restaurant.

Today, about five billion pizzas are made every year around the world. In the United States alone, people eat about 350 slices every second! People may not know it, but every piece is a slice of history.

And I was very surprised to know that you decided to drop out of school(辍学) and wanted to be a model(模特).  In fact, a famous person like me has a lot of problems that you couldn't see. Most time people think volunteering is to help others. It is true that volunteering can help others, 1 it can also help you. If you're sad about something that has happened, doing some volunteering can be a great way to do with your bad2 . Volunteering also lets you see your 3 life in new ways.
