Teenager Jake Deham was skiing with his family in the USA when he fell over and lost one of his skis. His family didn't know that he had a problem. They kept on skiing. When they got to the foot of the mountain, there was no sign of Jake. Jake couldn't find his ski anywhere. In the end, he decided to take off his other ski and walk down the mountain. But he couldn't work out the right way to go. It was now getting dark and he was a long way from any place of safety. He knew that he might die that night in the cold temperatures. But Jake kept calm. At home, Jake watched a lot of programs about living in difficult situations. He remembered the advice from these programs and knew that he should build a hole in the snow. He made a hole and pointed it up the hill so the wind couldn't blow into it. Outside his hole, the temperature fell to a dangerous-15℃ that night, but inside it Jake was safe from the cold. But he had to get down the mountain. The TV programs always said," If you are lost, you should find someone else's tracks(足迹) through the snow and follow them." "I wanted to live my life." remembers Jake." So I got up and I found some ski tracks and I followed those." He walked and walked and finally he saw lights. Nine hours after he lost his ski, he found a team of worker who came to save him. He was safe! His mum was very happy when she heard the news. Amazingly, Jake didn't even have to go to hospital. He got through the terrible experience without any injuries. So, the next time someone says that watching TV is a waste of time, think of Jake. Sometimes TV can save your life!

We spend around one third of our lives in bed, and the body does a lot of its repair work as we sleep, so enough good quality sleep is very important to our health. It doesn't stop there, though—some sleep positions are healthier than others. So which sleep position is the healthiest? Sleeping on your back is the healthiest sleep position. Health benefits include avoiding back and neck pain. Because the head is raised above the stomach when you sleep on your back, this position is best for people who suffer from nighttime acid reflux(胃酸逆流)as well. Around 80% of heartburn sufferers have problems during the night, so sleeping on their back could help a lot of people. If the sleep position alone is not enough to alleviate the problem, try raising the head of the bed by up to 4 inches by placing blocks under it. Besides, when you sleep on your back, your face is in a natural position. This means less wrinkles(皱纹). If you really can't stand sleeping on your back, another healthy sleep position is the side sleep. It's almost as good as the back position, and it's better for people who snore(打鼾)and their partners. Whichever sleep position you choose, use a pillow to support the head and the neck without raising the head unnaturally.

Have you ever taken a flight from Beijing Daxing International Airport (BDIA)? After opening on Sept.25, BDIA drew attention not just for its design, but also for its many high-tech facilities (设施) and services. The new airport, seated in the southernmost part of Beijing is made up of a main terminal (航站楼), a supporting service building and a parking lot. Together, they cover an area of about 1.4 million square meters, which is equal to(等同于) 63 Tian'anmen Square, according to Beijing Review. The new airport is expected to handle 45 million passenger trips a year by 2022 and 72 million by 2025, China Daily reported. With more runways (飞机跑道) planned, the new airport will eventually handle more than 100 million passengers each year. That's around the total population of the UK and Canada combined. The airport has many new technologies that make it smarter and more efficient (有效率的). It is the world's first airport with a double-deck departure and arrival (双进双出) design for its terminal building. "It's more efficient for passengers than any other larger airport terminal of the same size in the world," Guo Yanchi, the chief engineer in charge of (主管) construction (建造), told China Daily. According to the civil Aviation Administration of China, 86 percent of check-ins can be done through self-service check-in kiosks (自助值机一体机) and 76 percent of luggage can be checked automatically (自动地) with the help of self-service bag-drop machines. Other technologies, such as a facial recognition system(人脸识别系统), allow passengers to have a quicker check-in and boarding process. The airport will also use a robot-operated (机器人操作的) parking system. Drivers just need to park their cars in given areas. Robots will then carry them to an empty space. When collecting their cars, drivers simply need to scan (扫描) a parking ticket to find out where to collect their cars.

① The young woman at the airline check-in desk meant no harm. She greeted a customer with a question which would be no problem—in Chinese, "What's your problem?" But this question is impolite in English, and the customer became very angry. In this situation, the young woman should say, "May I help you?" or "How can I help you?" Then she would not be facing an unhappy traveler. increase tradition repeat product wide ② Maybe you would like something.
