    When you like your teachers, it's easier to pay attention to their explanations and improve your marks. When you consider your teachers as friends, you'll certainly have more respect for them. When your teachers consider you to be a friend, they'll feel more open in class and that will probably influence the classroom in a positive way. So a good relationship between students and teachers makes the classroom a very pleasant place. Now here are some tips to develop a friendly relationship with your teachers.

    If you have any questions about that subject, ask them. Show them that you're interested in their subjects. That will make them notice you. But never ask questions that you already know the answers to. If your teachers realize that you are not asking real questions, they might think that you're not actually trying to learn, but only trying to make an impression.

    You may also talk about non-school topics with your teachers. When you see one of your teachers in the hall, greet him/ and ask if he/she is going to that concert or if he/she has seen that movie. That way you'll show that you consider him/her as a friend. Most teachers are happy to chat with their students. After while, they may start to talk with you about non-school topics.

    The rest is totally up to you. If you want to be friends with your teachers, just treat them as friends, but don't forget that no matter how good friends you are, they will still be your teachers and deserve your respect.

Around 200years ago, a well-known English poet called John Keats attacked science. He said that British scientist Isaac Newton had unweaved（拆解） the rainbow. Newton explained how light forms a rainbow. For Keats, this explanation meant rainbows could no longer be beautiful.

This is just one example of many. We often hear people talk of problems with science, or say that it is boring. Some people, like Keats, also say that science takes away the beauty of the world. But is this fair?

First of all, science helps us get things done. We need to study science to produce certain kinds of people. After all, where would we be without engineers and doctors? When you are studying science in school, remember that one day you might be using that knowledge to build a bridge, or save a life. Next time you use your phone to send a message, remember that this is possible thanks to science. When Keats criticized Newton, the very paper he wrote on was created through science.

Beyond helping society and getting things done, science also makes us think in a certain way. It asks us to believe things only through evidence. It teaches us never to trust our assumptions（假设）. It teaches us that sometimes, the truth is stranger than fiction.

When you study science, remember what it means. Science has changed the world, and it can change you too. Humans once looked up at rainbows, and said that they were beautiful. Science explained them, and they were no longer mysterious to us.

But discovery never stops. Through science, we can find new rainbows：mysteries that lie beyond the stars themselves.

Six years ago, Shilagh Mirgain decided to achieve the goal she'd had on her bucket list(目标清单)for twenty years: to reach the top of Mount Kilimjanjaro. Four years ago, she bought her hiking shoes and started to hike. Two years after that she began to imitate the difficulties of the nine-day hike with a weighted backpack. Last summer, she booked her tour. In February she climbed to the very top of the mountain

If it wasn't for her bucket list, Mirgain says she might never have known the pleasure of standing at top of one of the world's most famous mountains. "Bucket lists are helpful in that they are a wan of listening to your inner wisdom（智慧）. She say, "It's so easy to get caught up in the day-to-day jobs, to-do lists, doing chores and the like-you may not see your inner need."

One study found that participants who wrote down their goals finished more than those who didn't. Other positive psychology research suggests that finishing goals like that is important for a satisfying life.

For Mirgain, who added Kilimanjaro to her list after receiving a postcard sent from the mountain by a group of women she had met who were climbing it, it wasn't so much the act of writing down her bucket list that helped her stick to it, as it was keeping it someplace noticeable, " keep pictures of my top bucket list things on my fridge," she says, "When I finish something I take that photo down and put it on another board in my home, along with a photo of myself at that place,

Mirgain said excitedly. "It's great to finish your bucket list. "she says, "To work toward something you wanted to experience or achieve gives you a confidence and can change your opinion of the world."

Don't be shy!

    If you think you are too shy and want to be a little outgoing, try the following rules. You can make it.

. Just let people know that you are a shy kid. When they know that, they will understand you better. This also helps you feel more at home when talking with others.

. People will think you are friendly and easy to talk to. Remember that most of us would like to talk to friendly people and we will stay away from an angry-looking face.

. If you find it hard to do, say something nice about people around you. Think about how great you feel when someone says something nice to you. Doesn't it make you want to keep talking to those people?

. Think more about ways to enjoy the party or the game. Don't worry about your looks or care if people like you.

. Each time after you say "Hi" or smile at someone for the first time, say to yourself "You did it! "or it could be something bigger, like buying yourself an ice-cream

Keep trying and one day you won't be shy any more when you talk to others.

Dario and his mother loved their new apartment. The living room was large enough for their piano. That night, the two of them 1 side by side at the piano. They played jazz music to celebrate their new home. The loud 2filled the room and made them feel very happy.

The next morning,3, their happiness disappeared. Someone had left a 4under their door during the night. One of their neighbors had written to complain(抱怨) about the sound of the piano. Dario's' mother asked the building superintendent(管理员) if he knew anything about it. But he said that they were all 5people and he couldn't imagine any of them had done that. "You play, you play!" Mrs. Gilbent said. "I like what you play! Just not so loud at night." She pointed to the book she had given them. "These songs are not such 13music."

"These songs are beautiful music," Dario's mother said. "We will be 14to play them in the evening."

"And we won't play so loud or late!" Dario said. He was already looking forward to 15the new music. More than that, however, he was happy to see the big smile on his mother's face. It gave him a feeling of warmth and made him feel that they were home at last.

It was a wet day and I had a hard time. I was busy and everyone I talked to was in a bad mood. What's more, I went out breakfast and I left my wallet at home. So I couldn't get lunch and was terribly(hunger). When I finished my work, I called to ask my wife to meet me at the door with some money so that I could quickly go(buy) dinner. Then I quickly made my way home in hope of eating my(one) meal of the day at 5:00p.m .. As I was halfway home，my wife told me by phone that a friend of(we)was in trouble and needed a lift home. My mind said, "I will get him after I get the meal. But my mouth said, "All right, I'll give him a ride."

He jumped in the car with a smile on his face and repeated thankful he was that I would drive him home. He told me he usually walked home from his company but that day the rain stopped him from (make)that journey.

Traffic was in a mess. A drive to him(normal)took 10 minutes but that day it took 30 minutes.

Now you would guess the person I was helping is a close friend of mine. But in fact, he is a friend of a friend's. I wonder if I will ever see this person again but I feel glad I was there when he needed me.
