    I used to think that courtesy（礼貌）was a thing of the past because seldom had I met a young man who was as kind and polite as older generations. However, a recent experience changed my1.

    Several weeks ago, I went to a coffee shop with my two2. There were too many people there and we had to go up to the second floor to find a(n)3table.

    After enjoying our coffee, we walked to the staircase（楼梯）which was not wide enough so there was hardly any4for another person to either climb up or come down. It was impossible for two people to walk side by side.

    Just as I was in the middle of the stairs, a young man5the coffee shop through the main entrance which was right in front of the staircase. It seemed that he wanted to go6.

    I was sure that I would be pushed 7aside by this young man. I thought he would climb the stairs8. I kept going down as fast as I could, holding on to the banister（扶手）. My two daughters were already down. They looked up at me, hoping I would reach them9 the young man walked up the stairs.

    When I almost reached them, I noticed that the young man was still standing near the10.

    As my daughters and I passed by, I found that he was holding the door open. I thought that he had perhaps not decided whether to go in or to find another less11place.

    After we walked out of the coffee shop, I12, just seeing the young man going up the stairs, two at a time.

    I told my daughters about it and13felt good. We did not even thank the gentleman who had14to let us come down first and held the door open for us before he hurried to go upstairs.

    It is hard to find such15young people these days, with so much jostling（推挤）and pushing all around us. I still remember this young gentleman and hope that our younger generations will be as courteous as him.
