With the development of modern science and technology, the functions of cellphones have changed greatly. The only difference may be that they fit in your pocket and you pay by the minute to use them. Some of the things a cellphone can do for you will be available this year:
Surf at speed
Cellphones that let you use the Web have been around for years. So, what's new? Well , faster third-generation (3G) networks that let you surf at anywhere. Possible choices are from IJG Electronics VX 8000 and Motorola V1150.Listen as you go.
There is no doubt that it is about to change. Sony Ericsson's new W8001 can hold around 150 songs in its 500 MB memory. And Samsung's SPH-V5400 even comes with a l. 5 GB hard drive. Mobile phones may eventually replace miniMP3 players, especially for teens. Say cheese.
Camera cellphones are not new either but most of them have limitations: around l- megapixel (百万像素 ) . However new technology has made 2-megapixel units more common ,and 3-megapixel units are showing up soon. Some 2-megapixel models, like Sony Ericsson's K7501, offer limited zoom and focus controls. Portable TV.
You say you like "watching TV"? That's what Samsung MMA700 wants to give you. The new model lets users watch popular TV programmes~ for a fee. Other choices are Nokia's 6620, Sanyo's MM740 and NEC's N940.
The above are just a handful of what you ' ll see in the coming months. Further down the road, your mobile phone may play a host of other roles, such as mobile credit card, position locator and so on. So what is there that a cellphone can't do?
A. The NEC model lets you watch public TV - no fee.
B. Without a cellphone, you can do nothing in your daily life.
C. Nowadays, new cellphones are much cheaper than old ones.
D. Today's do-it-all mobiles have a lot in common with the computer.
E. This then allows a carrier to send video, music, and games to your phone.
F. Others, like LG's recent A7110, can even capture 30 minutes of full-motion video.
G. The problem with most cellphone MP3 players is that they hold only a handful of songs.
In fact, there aren't always bright sunshine and gentle breeze, birds' singing and flowers' fragrant in our daily life. We have so many failures and hardships that someone will be disappointed and give up the hope of success, but life is what you make it.

Dear Editor-in-Chief,
My name is Li Hua and I'm writing to apply for the position of the student reporter you advertised in the 21th Century.
Looking forward to your reply.
Sincerely yours,

Although I started learning English during my college years, when I entered the States, I only understood two English words “Yes” and “No”. We learned many grammar rules but we could not make the language connections to the real English world. Language frustration worries almost all first generation immigrants. For example, I got a letter from a Chinese-American who has lived in the States for a long time and has a good IT job saying “My 11-year-old girl writes quite well, but as her parents, we could not even read her article.”In addition, my Chinese-American professor friend has difficulty reading a novel. Improving our English skills has become a long journey for all of us. Honestly, if I have a chance, I really want to reach out to everyone in the world who has had a similar experience: learning a second language in adulthood. I wish I could encourage them to speak out about the culture shock, frustration they felt about the differences between West and East.
I have mainly focused on my English writing since 2008 after I found “Literacy Volunteers”, an organization that specially focuses on helping immigrants improve their English. I decided to challenge myself, writing a story like an American. I saw many wonderful Americans there. As soon as I met my teacher Alice, I asked her to be my private language tutor and have taken Tims English class. Every week Alice and I have worked on my English essays sentence by sentence.
To observe the culture differences between West and East, occasionally, I posted a few of my English essays online. I mentioned previously about American culture; when people read the same article or even face the same situation, American and Chinese act very differently. In my viewpoint, these differences make America the strongest country in the world. I know you have the right to express your own opinions, but accusing others without proof is not acceptable.
If it really is what's on the inside that counts, then a lot of thin people might be in trouble.
Some doctors now think that the internal(内部的) fat surrounding important organs like the heart or liver could be as dangerous as the external fat which can be noticed more easily.
“Being thin doesn't surely mean you are not fat,” said Dr Jimmy Bell at Imperial College. Since 1994, Bell and his team have scanned nearly 800 people with MRI machines to create “fat maps” showing where people store fat.
According to the result, people who keep their weight through diet rather than exercise are likely to have major deposits of internal fat, even if they are slim.
Even people with normal Body Mass Index scores can have surprising levels of fat deposits inside. Of the women, as many as 45 percent of those with normal BMI scores (20 to 25) actually had too high levels of internal fat. Among men, the percentage was nearly 60 percent.
According to Bell, people who are fat on the inside are actually on the edge of being fat. They eat too many fatty and sugary foods, but they are not eating enough to be fat. Scientists believe we naturally store fat around the belly first, but at some point, the body may start storing it elsewhere.
Doctors are unsure about the exact dangers of internal fat, but some think it has something to do with heart disease and diabetes(糖尿病). They want to prove that internal fat damages the body's communication systems.
The good news is that internal fat can be easily burned off through exercise or even by improving your diet. “If you want to be healthy, there is no shortcut. Exercise has to be an important part of your lifestyle.” Bell said.
Many weight loss programs seem attractive to people. But for most people are overweight, the results are so (limit) that they will give up long before achieving any realistic results. It turns out that the programs are practically of no use. You lose weight for a while, only (gain) back more weight when you stop your weight loss program. This is such programs are not natural. Is there a natural weight loss solution?
A sure way of achieving natural weight loss is to increase amount of exercise you get every day. , this doesn't necessarily mean spending hours at the gym in front of a weight loss video. Increase your weight levels (nature) by walking or biking short distances instead of driving, or by taking the stairs instead of the elevator. There are even exercise that you can do while (sit) at your desk. All of these activities can burn extra calories taking up too much time.

Hotel Clerk: Yes, it is until nine o'clock. If you want anything after that, there are a couple of machines (sell) soft drinks, chocolate bars, and so on.

Recently, our class have held a heated discussion about whether evening classes should be cancelled.
My name is Clara. I still remember that chilly December day, sitting in science class. I'd finished a worksheet early and picked up a TIME for Kids magazine. A piece of news caught my eye: NASA was holding an essay contest to name its Mars rover(火星探测器). Before I even knew anything else about it,a single word flooded my 11-year-old mind, Curiosity.
I couldn't want for the bell to ring so I could get started on my essay. That afternoon, I raced home, sat down at the computer, and typed until my fingers ached. “Curiosity is an everlasting flame that burns in everyone's mind...”
Five months later, my mon received a phone call, and immediately, a wide smile spread across her face.
On August 5,2012, at 10:31 p.m, the rover named Curiosity touched down safely on the surface of Mars, and I was honored to have a front-row seat in NASA.
Curiosity is such an important part of who I am.I have always been fascinated by the stars, the planets, the sky and the universe. I remember as a little girl,my grandmother and I would sit together in the backyard for hours. She'd tell me stories and point out the stars,Grandma lived in China, thousands of miles away from my home in Kansas, but the stars kept us together even when we were apart. They were always there, yet there was so much I didn't know about them. That's what I love so much about space.
People often ask me why we go to faraway places like Mares. My answer is simple because we're curious. We human beings do not just hole up in one place. We are constantly wondering and trying to find out what's over the hill and beyond the horizon.
Here is an astonishing and significant fact: Mental work alone can't make us tire. It sounds absurd. But a years ago, scientists tried to find out how long the human brain could labor without reaching a stage of fatigue (疲劳). To the amazement of these scientists, they discovered that blood passing through the brain, when it is active, shows no fatigue at all! If we took a drop of blood from a day laborer, we would find it full of fatigue toxins(毒素) and fatigue products. But if we took blood from the brain of an Albert Einstein, it would show no fatigue toxins at the end of the day.
So far as the brain is concerned, it can work as well and swiftly at the end of eight or even twelve hours of effort as at the beginning. The brain is totally tireless. So what makes us tired?
Some scientists declare that most of our fatigue comes from our mental and emotional(情绪的) attitudes. One of England's most outstanding scientists, J.A. Hadfield, says, “The greater part of the fatigue from which we suffer is of mental origin. In fact, fatigue of purely physical origin is rare.” Dr. Brill, a famous American scientist, goes even further. He declares, “One hundred percent of the fatigue of sitting worker in good health is due to emotional problems.”
What kinds of emotions make sitting workers tired? Joy? Satisfaction? No! A feeling of being bored, anger, anxiety, tenseness, worry, a feeling of not being appreciated—those are the emotions that tire sitting workers. Hard work by itself seldom causes fatigue. We get tired because our emotions produce nervousness in the body.
Mr. Glen is a millionaire. Five years ago, after returning from abroad to his motherland, he 1 his small company. Speaking of success, Glen often tells us a story about his extra expensive “school” fee. He always 2 his success to it.
At that time, Glen, who already got a Ph.D. degree, 3 to return to the homeland, starting a company. Before leaving, he bought a Rolex watch with the 4 made through years of work after school and the scholarships. At the airport he had to accept the 5 customs check. The watch on his wrist was also demanded to be taken down for 6. Glen knew that carrying the specific goods out had to pay the tax, and he worried about paying 7 for his watch. So when he was checked, he told a lie that his watch was a 8 fake(假货). When he was 9 of his “smarts”, immediately, in the presence of Glen, the officers hit the watch, 10cost nearly 100,000, into pieces 11 hearing Glen's words. Glen was 12 . Before he understood why, he was taken to the office to be examined 13 . For many times of entry-exit 14 he knew that only those people in the “blacklist” would “enjoy” this special treatment. The officers looked over everything carefully in the box, and 15 him no matter what time of entry and exit he must accept the check and if 16 reusing and carrying fakes, he would be 17 according to law! Suddenly, his face turned red, and he had nothing in mind after boarding the plane for long.
After returning to the homeland, he often told the story to his family, and his employees, too. He said that this made a deep 18on him, because the additional high “school” fee that he had ever paid made him realize the value of 19, which he would remember as the 20 of his success forever.
Dear Tom,
How time flies! You (study) in Beijing for nearly a month, during which you must have achieved a lot. Well, how's everything going? It is reported that the weather there is very hot and dry these days, which is very different from of your country. Have you adapted to it? In addition, you once complained that the food (serve) there was not your taste. I hope that should have been improved.
I am glad to tell you that I will go to Beijing to take part in an English speech contest in July, is not only an honor, but also a great opportunity for me to improve . And now I try my best to make (prepare) for it. , I have some trouble in collecting the materials relevant and using the language. I will appreciate if you give me a hand to solve the problems.
After the contest, I am to drop at your school to visit you. Please wait for my phone.
