In 1901, Karl Landsteiner, an Austrian scientist, found that there are four types of blood. These four blood types were named A, B, AB and O. People have one of these four types.     What's a spacewalk? Any time an astronaut gets out of a spacecraft(航天器) while in space, it is called a spacewalk. Astronauts go on spacewalks for many reasons. For example, experiments can be placed on the outside of a spacecraft. This lets scientists learn how being in space affects(影响) different things. By going on spacewalks, astronauts can also fix things instead of bringing them back to the earth to fix.

    When astronauts go on spacewalks, they wear spacesuits to keep themselves safe. Inside spacesuits, astronauts have the oxygen(氧气) they need to breathe and the water they need to drink. To keep the astronauts and the spacecraft safe, the astronauts must leave and go back to the spacecraft through a special door. When on a spacewalk, astronauts use safety tethers to stay close to their spacecraft. Tethers are like ropes, connect the spacewalkers with the spacecraft. They keep astronauts from floating(漂 浮) away into space. Another way astronauts stay safe during spacewalks is by wearing a SAFER. SAFER is worn like a backpack. It helps an astronaut move around in space.

    How do astronauts train for spacewalks? One way is by going for a swim. Floating in space is a lot like floating in water. Astronauts practice spacewalks underwater in a huge special swimming pool. For every one hour they will spend on a spacewalk, astronauts need to train seven hours in the pool. Another way astronauts practice for a spacewalk is by using virtual reality(虚拟现实). It looks and feels just like a spacewalk.

    Today, only three countries have finished spacewalks independently. They are Russia, the United States and China. The first person to go on a spacewalk in the world was Alexei Leonov from Russia. Zhai Zhigang is the first Chinese astronaut to go on a spacewalk. The world record of spacewalks is held by Russian astronaut Anatoly Solovyev. He has been on 16 spacewalks and spent more than 82 hours outside in space.

The Chang'e 5 robotic probe (探测器) has become China's first spaceship to bring the country's national flag to the Moon.

Historically, most cars have run on gasoline (汽油), but that may change in the future: cars can also run on other liquid fuels (液体燃料)and electricity.

Gasoline is from oil. The energy in gasoline comes from hydrocarbons  (碳氢化合物). Gasoline provides great power for cars. However, it causes environmental problems, like air pollution and temperature rise. So gasoline can't be the best fuel.

Another way is to make such fuels from plants which take in carbon from the air. These fuels are greener in use. But not all of them can be as efficient as gasoline.

For a fuel to be the best, people have to be able to afford it. Unluckily, almost every green technology is more expensive than that of using gasoline. Governments and car producers are doing everything they can to cut down the costs. In the end, the best fuel will be both affordable for car users and green for our planet.

As is known to all, without the earth's gravity (引力),nothing will come down to the earth and everything and everyone will fly in the sky. That is why many astronauts landing on the moon must work out the problems because of the low gravity.

Thanks to the international space station, we know quite a lot about the influences of low gravity on the human body, but NASA scientists want to learn more. The 11^th day of the experiment shows the mice are not just dealing with the gravity change, but actually seem to be enjoying it. Several of the mice are seen running around the cage walls. The scientists wanted to see whether the mice would continue doing the same kinds of activities they were seen doing on earth.

The study showed that the mice kept as normal activities as they did on the earth, including cleaning themselves and eating when hungry.

Without energy in our bodies, we wouldn't be able to do anything. We couldn't walk, talk, or even play. Energy is usable power. And energy is related to some kind of motion.

All living things need energy, no matter what they do. Plants get their energy from sunlight. This energy is stored indifferent chemicals（化合物)inside the plant.

For at least 3,000 years, there have been many Chinese stories and poems about giant pandas. It's said that emperors kept these bears as a sign of wealth. A giant panda's skull（头盖骨）was found in the tomb of a wife of an emperor who lived over 2,000 years ago. Skins and bones of pandas have been discovered in older tombs as well. Today pandas are China's national symbol of peace and friendship.

Pandas in the wild might live for 20 years. Pandas live longer in zoos. Hsing Hsing, a panda lived in an American zoo, died at the age of 28. In China, pandas in zoos have lived to be even longer.

Animals do many different, amazing things to get through the winter. Some of them migrate. They travel to other places where the weather is warmer or where they can find food.

CNN-China launched (发射) another manned mission (载人任务) to its new space station on Sunday, sending three astronauts (宇航员) who will continue space work for six months.

The astronauts lifted off on the Shenzhou-14 spacecraft at 10:44 a. m. , June 5th, 2022, launched from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in the Gobi Desert, Inner Mongolia.

The crew includes Chen Dong, Liu Yang and Cai Xuzhe. Chen was aboard China's Shenzhou-11 manned space mission in 2016 and once held the record for longest stay in space bya Chinese astronaut. Liu became the first ever Chinese woman in space in 2012 on the Shenzhou-9 mission. And this will be Cai's first mission in space. The team will live and work at the Tiangong Space Station's Tianhe core module (核心仓) for six months before returning to Earth. It marks a new step in China's space program.

Six months is the standard mission duration (标准任务期限) for many countries—but it is an important chance for Chinese astronauts to be accustomed to a long-term stay in space and help prepare future astronauts to do the same.

Six space missions have been scheduled (规划) before the end of the year, including another manned mission, two laboratory modules and two cargo missions.

The team aboard Shenzhou-14 will help with the docking, setting up and testing of the two laboratory modules Wentian and Mengtian, which are ready to launch in July and October this year.

Drowning is the second leading cause of accidental deaths of children, so a lot of parents are already signing them up for summer swim lessons.

Studies show they help save lives. According to USA Swimming, formal lessons reduce the possibility of drowning by nearly 90%.

Afton Kidman knows the dangers that come from water. "We shouldn't only want our kids to think water is fun," Kidman said. "They also need to know how to survive（存活）in it."

Kidman's son, Forrest, was in a drowning accident. He survived but suffered brain damage, and it's why Kidman decided to learn how to teach survival swimming and became a teacher at Children Swimming Center.

"I wanted to be able to help more kids," Kidman said. She's taught nearly 50 of them so far. Some babies are as young as six months. This summer, she has 30 more children coming for lessons. "Every parent should have your child learn how to swim," Kidman said, "it's a great gift to give them."

"Across the country, more than a million kids will learn to swim this summer," Ruth Comer, with YMCA of Greater Des Moines, said. "Kids who are disabled or have special needs, anyone can learn to swim. It's never too late."

"I think it's going to get a lot of kids that never would have had a chance to get swim lessons, that chance to get in a pool," Ethan Johnson, head coach of the Des Moines Swimming Federation, said. "If we save one life, it's all worth it."
