During my first day at senior high school, I met my new teacher. She looked at me and said, "I am happy to have an international student in my class." I was very excited.
One day, I came to the class about three minutes late, and she told me to write my name on a piece of paper and, beside it, the word "late". In that way she could know I was late for the first time. At first, I was embarrassed and angry. Then I did not complain because she taught me an important lesson: time is very valuable(珍贵的).
I learned another important lesson during one of my classes—the day of the first exam. After I finished my exam, I did not review my answers because it was the end of the exam time. One week later, she returned my exam paper. I found that one of my answers was wrong. Even though the only choices were A, B and C, I chose D instead of C. I tried to explain my mistake to her, "I marked D though I knew C was the right answer." However, she refused my request and told me, "I do believe you, but I am not going to forgive your mistake. This will encourage you to be more careful before you turn your papers in." I was not expecting that from her, but she was completely right.
The party began shortly after Mr Wood, who lived in the flat below, signed to himself as he heard exciting voices and the noisy music. Luckily he had 1 some work home from the office, 2 he kept himself busy for a couple of hours, thus managing to pay no attention to the noise 3. But by eleven o'clock he felt 4 and was ready to go to bed, though from his earlier experience he knew it was 5 trying to get to sleep. He undressed and lay for a while on the bed, trying to read, but he 6 himself reading the same page over and over again. He then turned off the light and 7 his head in the pillow. But 8 he could not shut 9 the noise, finally, after 10 seemed hours, his 11 was gone.
He jumped out of bed, 12 some clothes, marched 13 up the stairs, and walked into his neighbor's flat. The owner of the flat, who 14 him in his dressing gown, came 15 the room and, 16 Mr Wood could say anything, cried, “My dear fellow, come and 17. I know our party 18 you. I meant to send you 19." Mr Wood's anger disappeared then and there. He said, “I'd better go and get 20. " Minutes later, he returned, properly dressed, only to find that the party was nearly over.

an old man.
Now many young people are traveling around the world on their own, not because they have no one to travel with, but because they prefer to go alone.
Kristina Wegscheider from California first traveled alone when she was at college and believes that it is something everyone should do at least once in their life." It opens up your mind to new things and pushes you out of your comfort zone. " Wegscheider has visited 46 countries and regions covering all seven continents.
In foreign countries, with no one to help you read a map, look after you if you get ill, or lend you money if your wallet is stolen, it is challenging. This is what drives young people to travel alone. It is seen as character building and a chance to prove that they can make it on their own.
Chris Richardson decided to leave his sales job in Australia to go traveling last year. He set up a website, The Aussie Nomad, to document his adventures. He said he wished he had traveled alone earlier." The people you meet, the places you visit, or the things you do, everything is up to you and it forces you to grow as a person," said the 30-year-old man.
Richardson describes traveling alone like" a shot in the arm", which" makes you a more confident person that is ready to deal with anything". He said," The feeling of having overcome something on my own is a major part of what drives me each day when I'm dealing with a difficult task. I walk around with my head up because I know deep down inside that nothing is impossible if you try."
The great 19th century explorer John Muir once said," Only by going alone in silence can one truly get into the heart of the wilderness. "

Dear Miss Li,
How are you? Are you still busy at your work at that school? I'm writing to tell you anything about my new school here. This is a beautiful school with many trees and flowers in it. The classrooms were big and bright. The modern library is full of books on different subject. Every Wednesday afternoon we can go there and lend books. Teachers here are strict in their work and this is what the school is famous. Classes and homework don't take up all your time. After the supper, we usually gather to see the CCTV news so that we can learn that has happened in this world. How luckily I am to be a student in such a wonderful school!

"If there is one thing I'm sure about, it is that m a hundred years from now we will still be reading newspapers. It is not that newspapers are a necessity. Even now some people get most of their news from television or radio. Many buy a paper only on Saturday or Sunday. But for most people reading a newspaper has become a habit passed down from generation to generation.
The nature of what is news may change .What basically makes news is what affects our lives - the big political stories, the coverage of the wars, earthquakes and other disasters, will continue much the same. I think there will be more coverage of scientific research, though .It's already happening in areas that may directly affect our lives, like genetic(基因的) engineering. In the future, I think there will be more coverage of scientific explanations of why we feel as we do - as we develop a better understanding of how the brain operates and what our feelings really are.
It's quite possible that in the next century newspapers will be transmitted(传送)electronically from Fleet Street and printed out in our own home. In fact ,I'm pretty sure how it will happen m the future. You will probably be able to choose from a menu, making up your own newspaper by picking out the things you want to read sports and international news, etc.
I think people have got it wrong when they talk about competition between the different media(媒体).They actually feed off each other. Some people once foresaw that television would kill off newspapers, but that hasn't happened. What is read on the printed page lasts longer than pictures on a screen or sound lost in the air. And as for the Internet. it's never really pleasant to read something just on a screen.
—I've never had one before.
