Have you wondered why different animals or pests have their particular colours? Colours in them seem to be used mainly to protect themselves.

Birds, especially seagulls are very fond of locusts (蝗虫), but birds can’t easily catch locusts because locusts change their colours together with the change of the colour of crops. When crops are green, locusts look green. But when crops are ripe, locusts take on exactly the same brown colour as crops have. Some other pests with different colours from plants are usually easily found and eaten by their enemies. So they have to hide themselves in terror for lives and appear only at night.

If you study the animal life in any part of the world, you will find the main use of colouring is to protect them. Bears, wolves and other beasts move quietly through forests. They are usually invisible(can’t be seen) to the eyes of hunters, because they have the colour much like the bark(树皮)of trees.

An even stranger act remains to be noticed. A kind of fish living in seas can send out a kind of very black liquid when it faces danger. While the liquid is over, its enemies cannot find it, and it quickly swims away. Thus, it has existed up to now though it is not powerful at all.

The seven Harry Potter novels are to be sold as e-books for the first time in October. Author J.K Rowling announced(宣布)the series would also be available as audio books through a new website, Pottermore.

The website will also feature(使。。。有特色)new material which Rowling says she has been collecting for years. “ This is such a great way to give something back to the fans who made Harry Potter such a huge success”, the author said.

The Harry Potter novels have sold more than 450 million copies through Bloomsbury in Britain, and Scholastic in the United States. Some of it is new stuff in reply to things fans have asked me over the years.”

The site, which Rowling said she had been working on for two years, promises to immerse(使沉浸于)users in the boy wizard’s world, offering opportunities for computer gaming, social networking(网络)to all users from October.

I am a good mother of three children. I have tried never to let my profession stand in the way of being a good parent.

I no longer consider myself the center of the universe. I show up. I listen. I try to laugh. I am a good friend to my husband. I have tried to make marriage vows(誓言)mean what they say. I am a good friend to my friends, and they to me. Without them, there would be nothing to say to you today. So here’s what I want to tell you today: Get a life. A real life, not a desire of the next promotion(提升), the bigger paycheck, the larger house.

Get a life in which you are not alone. Find people you love, and who you love. And remember that love is not leisure(休闲), it is work. Pick up the phone. Send an email. Write a letter. And realize that life is the best thing and that you have no business taking it for granted.

It is so easy to waste our lives, our days, our hours, and our minutes. It is so easy to exist instead of to live. I learnt to live many years ago. Something really, really bad happened to me, something that changed my life in ways that, if I had my choice, it would never have been changed at all. And what I learned from it is what, today, seems to be the hardest lesson of all.

I learned to love the journey, not the destination. I learned to look at all the good in the world and try to give some of it back because I believed in it, completely and totally. And I tried to do that, in part, by telling others what I had learned, and by telling them this: read in the backyard with the sun on your face. Learn to be happy. And think of life as a deadly illness, because if you do, you will live it with joy and passion(激情)as it ought to be lived.

32. It can be inferred from the passage that       .

    A. the author spent all her time caring for her children

    B. the author didn’t try her best to work well

    C. the author is a success in personal life

    D. the author likes traveling very much

33. How did the author form her view of life?

A. Through social experience          B. Through an unfortunate experience

C. By learning her friends             D. From her children and husband

34. What’s the author’s attitude toward work?

A. Do it well to serve others

 B. Don’t let it affect your real life

    C. Try your best to get a higher position and a pay

    D. Earn enough money to make life better

35. The best title of this passage probably is

 A. Love Your Friends                B. Be A Good Mother and Wife

 C. Don’t Waste Time                 D. Live A Real Life
