One day Bob took two of his friends into the mountains. They put up their tents and then rode off to a forest to see how the trees were growing. Cats are creatures of habit. They like to go to sleep about the same time every day and for a certain length of time. They seem to have a natural clock inside them that tells them when to sleep. Cats increase their regular sleep with occasional(偶尔的) cat naps(打盹). Some experts feel that humans could also benefit from this habit. Cat naps help to build up energy in the body. They are also a good way to get rid of trouble! Since cats have the same moods(情绪)as humans, some experts believe that people can improve their moods. People might become happier.

A number of famous people have copied cats by taking cat naps during the day. The naps would usually last from 15 to 30 minutes. Winston Churchill took cat naps. Blogs (博客) are the place where young people go to reveal(透露)their souls, to vent(发泄), and even to gossip.

Many people enjoy the freedom in blogging. Some, however, find that putting one’s life online can have a price. Some students in America got suspensions (停学) because on their blogs they posted(发表,发帖) threatening words to their teachers.

Recent surveys found that nearly a fifth of teens who have the chance to go online have their own blogs. And 38% of teens say they read other people’s blogs. By comparison, about a tenth of adults have their own blogs and a quarter say they read other people’s online journals.

With the development of the Internet, more and more people will have their own blogs.

In another survey, 79% of teens agreed that people at their age aren’t careful enough when giving out information about themselves online. Besides, careless blogging can also affect blog viewers. When you are angry or frustrated, your blog is the first place you turn to. The words you post then may not be rational and you may regret later. To reduce the negative(负面的)effect, you’d better make such posts “private” so that only you can read them.

As long as you are careful with what you post, blogging is a great means of staying in touch with friends and displaying one’s creative works.

9. Blogs are the place where people _________.

A. go online to have a chat           B. go online to download information

C. go online to make friends          D. go online to express themselves freely

10. The fact that some American students got suspensions is used to show that ________.

       A. people should be careful with what they write in their blogs

       B. people should not have blogs

      C. American students always threaten teachers

      D. anyone can express himself freely in their blogs

Macao is only forty miles from Hong Kong and it is easy to reach. You can get there by sea. It is an interesting place and it had a long history. Macao is part of China and most people living there are Chinese.

When I was a little girl, my mom would say,“Half the fun of doing anything is sharing it with others.” 16  Friends and mates allow us to enjoy our successes and our joys, comfort us in our hard moments, and provide a mirror for us to learn more about ourselves. I’ve always looked at friends as the gifts we choose. They enrich our lives. As Robert Louis Steven once said,“ 17

To be a good friend or partner, it’s important to be a good listener. Hear what your friend or mate wants to say first rather than jump to conclusions or get defensive. 18 When they hear their words repeated back to them, it can help them to realize what they said was not exactly what they meant to say.

19 You know the old golden rule, “Care for others the way you would like them to care for you.”The help of a friend during a tough time could make the difference between success and failure. Encouragement and confidence are the gifts that can help change a person’s life.

Take care, though, with whom you choose to have close relationship, for they can have a great effect on yourself—respect and life path. As someone once told me 20  They will either take you up or down.”

A. I am afraid so.

B. It is quite true.

C. Friendship is the most important factor.

D. Sometimes it is useful to be their mirror.

E. A friend is a present which you give yourself.

F. The attitudes of your friends are like the buttons on a lift.

G. Support from friends is very important.

A boy does not become a man on the same age everywhere in the world. Many people in American feel that a boy becomes a man when he is 18 years old. It’s different from an Eskimo boy. An Eskimo boy becomes man when he kills his first polar bear. The polar bear, which may be 9 feet long and weigh 1,000 pounds, is a very dangerous animal. To kill it takes a great deal of courage and skills. The boy who can kill a polar bear have developed the skills and courage needed to be a hunter--- and a man.  Polar bears gave the Eskimos meat to eat it, skins for clothing, and oil for heating and lighting. A boy who can supply all this things has certainly become a man.
