I once worked at a restaurant One night, an old pair of couple(夫妇) walked into the restaurant slowly. I quickly went to them and gave them the menu.

The man began ordering but he talked stutteringly(结结巴巴地). It was very clear that he had difficulty speaking. His wife told him what she wanted and the man kept ordering as a way to practice speaking. It took him quite a lot of time to order. At the same time his wife was sitting there and she looked so proud.

I had to say they touched me a lot. It just made me realize that love is about acceptance, tolerance and support(接受、宽容和支持). His wife could have made the order and made things easier for the man, but she didn't. Instead, she supported him and was proud to see him order by himself.

I also learned that life is difficult for us most of the time. The most important is to face the problems in life and try our best to solve them.

  1. (1) When did the story happen?
    A . In the morning. B . At noon. C . In the afternoon. D . In the evening.
  2. (2) What can we know about the wife?
A . She was very angry with the restaurant. B . She was very beautiful. C . She made the order by herself. D . She showed the writer what love is.
  3. (3) What can we learn from the passage?
A . There is something wrong with the writer's ears. B . We need to face our problems and try to solve them. C . We can solve our problems by ourselves. D . The writer didn't like to serve old people.
  4. (4) What does the writer want to tell us?
A . Helping others is helping ourselves. B . Tolerance and support show true love. C . Life is easier for healthy people. D . We should learn to look after our family members.
