Jack works in a bookstore. Here is a note from his boss, Ben. Jack will decide what books to order(订购) according to the notes and the information about the books.
Hi Jack, You must hand in the order list of books by the first working day of every month. The rules for choosing books are: For textbooks: ※August is coming. We must have all textbooks, without thinking of other rules. For books which are not textbooks: ※If more than 5 copies were sold last month, we choose them. But if there are 5 or more in stock(现货),we do not make an order. ※If the wholesale(批发) prices are higher than ﹩75, we don't choose them. And we don't order anything whose retail(零售) price is higher than ﹩100. |

Many years ago I studied in a university in the biggest city in our country. It's beautiful but it's hot in summer. So I usually went back to my 1 when my summer holiday began. It is a small village but it's cool and quiet. I could study in the daytime and have a good sleep at night.
One day I had some problems to solve. But I didn't take the 2 home. My father told me Charlie, one of my classmates, had a library. I went to his house at once. We didn't see each other after I 3 middle school. At first he didn't recognize(认出) me. He 4 me up and down. And then he called out, "oh, dear! It's you, Fred!"
Of course we were 5 to meet each other again and talked a lot about our classmates and teachers. Later on he showed me around his library. It wasn't big but there were a lot of nice books in it. And the dictionaries I 6 were in them. At last I said, "7 you lend some dictionaries to me, please?"
"I'm sorry I don't lend anything in my library to 8," said the young man.
" Are you afraid I'll lose them?"
" No, I'm not. I'm afraid you won't 9 them to me. Look! All the books here are not 10, but borrowed!"
A. Have enough sleep. B. Go out and make friends. C. Eat healthy food. D. Keep yourself busy |
We know health and happiness are important to our life. Here are some ways to get them.
Eat a lot of fruit, vegetables and less meat. Don't eat too much junk food.
It is best to get about eight hours of sleep a day. It is very bad for our health if we don't have enough sleep.
It stops you from having bad habits. To keep yourself busy, you can work around the house, spend time with your pet, write letters to your friends, do a sport, or do anything you enjoy.
Spend time and have fun with people. Talk with them, but don't talk about anything bad. You should stay with the people who are healthy and happy.
Remember that nothing is more important than health and happiness.
—I am quite upset.
—Cheer up! The more you smile, the you will be.
Last year, four students waited for their school bus every day for ten minutes, on the same dirty street. There (be)old bottles, parts of old bikes, and empty soda cans (易拉罐)everywhere around the bus stop. The trees were brown and had few leaves(树叶), and you couldn't see flowers at all.
One Friday, one of the (child) looked at the street and decided to do something. next Monday, she brought a bag and (find) some of the old bottles to recycle(回收 ). On Tuesday, she spent another ten minutes (pick) up old bottles. And her best friend helped pick up (捡起)soda cans and put (they) in different bags. On Wednesday, all the students joined together. The street became much (clean) than before!
The street looked better it was still not very beautiful. So the next day, the girl brought some seeds (种子). She planted the seeds and watered them. She only had ten minutes a day but that was enough. A few months later, this street became a beautiful gardenpretty flowers and green trees. It only took ten minutes a day. Do you have ten minutes a day to(help) your city?
What I like most about my best friend
Lily Chen, Canada
Kay is the most confident girl that I have ever met. She is really kind. It may surprise some people to find out Kay and I are best friends, because we are quite different. I'm not confident and I am very shy, but I think this is why we are such good friends.
Alan Cordoba, Mexico
My best friend is Fanny. I can always depend on her. We always take care of each other. The first week we met, I got sick with flu and she came to my house to take care of me every day. She is also very intelligent and interesting. Sometimes she gets angry easily. She shouts at me for always being late.
Isabel Famosa, Cuba
My best friend is Anna Hernandez. She is honest, kind and sensitive. We were born in the same city in Cuba. We spent a lot of time together until we were 12. Then, I moved to America with my family and thought that I would never see Anna again. When I went to college in New York, Anna had a room in the same building. She now lives near me in New Jersey and we see each other all the time.
