Egypt has opened two of its oldest pyramids. The pyramids are in Dahshur, about40 kilometers south of the Egyptian capital city Cairo. They are now open to the public for the first time after 1965.Hundreds of people went to the opening of the two pyramids. The Bent Pyramid was built about 4,600 years ago. It was for Sneferu. It is104.71 meters high. Builders used new ways to build it and scientists said it was an important step in the development of pyramid building. Scientists believe that it is special among the pyramids to be found in Egypt. Tourists can also enter an18-metre-high "side pyramid "next to the Bent Pyramid. This was for Sneferu's wife Hetepheres.
The two pyramids are parts of the Memphis Necropolis, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Egypt hopes the opening of the two pyramids will improve the country's tourism. Egypt was one of the most popular countries with tourists, but the number of tourists fell after 2011.Pyramids in Egypt are on the dream lists of many people around the world. At the Bent Pyramid, tourists will be able to go through a79-meter tunnel to get to two 4600-year-old meeting halls deep inside. They will also be able to see the treasures found inside the pyramid.
So do you feel excited about the news? If you do, go and visit the mysterious pyramids during your holidays.
One day in March, seven years ago, during happy hours at a bar in my hometown of Fayetteville, Arkansas, I made a surprise announcement to my friends: I was going to shut down my law practice and try to travel around the earth in a year. What's more, I would do it without taking any flights or making a single advance reservation of any kind. Some of my friends offered support and encouragement, while others were more doubtful. Once I had said the words, there was no turning back. I took months to shut down my law practice and get things in order. Once I set off on my adventure in December 2008, I found travelling without using planes was not easy. Trying to circle the earth in 16 months (it took me a bit longer than the 12 months I planned) made it even harder. Even so, travelling overland was the most amazing way to truly understand the beauty of our wonderful planet.
I took three overnight buses to travel 3,000 km through Argentina, from Ushuaia to the capital Buenos Aires. I would look out of the windows for hours continuously at the completely plains, as if humans had never touched it.
It took seven days and nights on trains to get from Moscow to Beijing, each day spent staring out of the windows for hours as the Siberian plains swept by. Sometimes, I wouldn't see a village or a human being for 10 hours. Later in my journey, it took 22 days on a ship to get from New Zealand through the Panama Canal and back to Philadelphia, to finish my round-the-world adventure.
It turned out that travelling with no reservations was far less difficult than I had imagined. Pulling into a city on a bus with a backpack, looking in a guidebook for a few suggestions of places to live, and then finding an empty room was never much of problem anywhere. It also open about all my travel plans, which is advice I give everyone who asks—plan for less than you think you should.

I arrived in Penang in Malaysia this morning with my family. It was sunny and hot, so we decided to go to the beach near our hotel. My sister and I tried paragliding. I felt like I was a bird. It was so exciting! For lunch, we had something very special Malaysian yellow noodles. They were delicious! In the afternoon, we rode bicycles to Georgetown. There are a lot of new buildings now, but many of the old buildings are still there. In Weld Quay, a really old place in Georgetown, we saw the houses of the Chinese traders from 100 years ago. I wonder what life was like here in the past. I really enjoyed walking around the town.
Tuesday, July 16th
What a difference a day makes! My father and I decided to go to Penang Hill today. We wanted to walk up to the top, but then it started raining a little so we decided to take the train. We waited over an hour for the train because there were too many people. When we got to the top it was raining really hard. We didn't have an umbrella so we were wet and cold. It was terrible! And because of the bad weather, we couldn't see anything below. My father didn't bring enough money, so we only had one bowl of rice and some fish. The food tasted great because I was so hungry!
