Two years ago, when I was well again after a serious illness I received an invitation to a writer's meting in Orlando, Florida. My family thought a1 night be just what I need, so I went off.
I was tied when l 2the beautiful sunshine city, so I caught a taxi to my hotel .The next morning, I took another 3to the shopping centre to buy something. Later, I went to a restaurant to have lunch, but there were no more empty tables there. Then I heard a friendly voice, "You can 4my table." I 5sat down with the kind lady and we had a happy lunch together. At the end of the meal, she asked me6I would spend the holiday in Orlando. I told her I didn't have a car , and would take taxis to go out although" it was a little7 Hearing that she said, "My dear, don't use any more taxis. I'm retired and I am glad to drive you to any place you wish," I told her I couldn't put her to that trouble",8she didn't agree. She asked me where I was staying and the next morning she came to my hotel and took me to Disney World. She stayed with me9some time and then left me alone. At the end of the day,she10to take me back to my hotel. I gave her money, but she didn't take any.
With her help, that wonderful lady made my short holiday in Florida a wonderful memory .And I'll never forget her.
Once Mr. King had a cat, and he loved it very much. He called it "Sky", because he thought "Sky" was the strongest name in the world.
One day he had a meal at a restaurant with his cat. He met his old friend. He told him about his lovely cat and its name. His friend said, "How foolish you are! Sky is not the strongest thing in the world. My cat is called „Cloud' because cloud is stronger than sky." After hearing this, Mr. King called his cat "Wind" because he thought wind was stronger than cloud.
After a few days he suddenly thought that "Wall" was stronger than wind. And "Mouse" was stronger than wall. So he went to his friend to ask for an idea. His friend said, "Don't you think Cat is stronger than mouse?" "Yes, but..."
The man thought and thought and then decided his cat's name had better be "Cat" because a mouse was always afraid of a cat. Don't you think Mr. King is very silly or funny?

What's that in the sky? Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it's Hello Kitty.
That's how Lauren Rojas, 12, from the US thought of her science project. She sent her Hello Kitty doll into the sky early this month. She wanted to find out how altitude(高度) changed air pressure(气压) and temperature, according to New York Daily News.
Rojas put the doll and a small computer into a rocket model, and then sent it up with a weather balloon(气球). The computer recorded the height, air pressure and temperature. Rojas also put in a video camera to record the trip.
"It took about two or three weeks to put it all together," said Rojas. "I think people will think it (the video) is really cool."
The balloon got to 28.5km above the Earth. At that height, the doll could see the blue curves(曲线) of our planet. The air was very thin up there, and soon the balloon broke up (爆炸). The doll fell from the sky and at last it ended up in a tree. It was 76km from the place where it had started its journey.
Life is not easy, so I'd like to say," Whenever it is,(相信) in yourself."
When I was a young boy, I was too shy to speak to anyone. My classmates often (嘲笑) at me. I was sad but could do (没什么事). Later, something (发生), and it changed my life. It was an English contest. My mother asked me to take part in it. What a terrible idea! It meant I had to speak before all the teachers and students of my school. (然而), my mother insisted, "Come on, boy. You are sure to win." Then mother and I listed many different topics(话题) and talked about them (一起). At last I (决定)on the topic. I tried my best to remember all the speech and practiced it (百) of times. Also, my mother took me to her (外国的) friend for help. I could (几乎不) believe my ears when the news came that I had won the first prize. I heard the cheers from the teachers and students. Women are just as good at engineering as men are. If you don't think so, come to the program-Introducing a Girl to Engineering Day.
Some successful women engineers invited middle school girls in South Carolina, US to take part in the program every year in May. On the program, they talk to the girls and give them fun activities to try out. These help them learn about the fun side of engineering.
This year, the girls learns to make paper boats, and they used their breath(呼吸) to make the boats move.
Laura Kate, an eighth-grader told the Aiken Standard newspaper that she was not sure to take up engineering as her job yet, but she found the program was "a lot of fun".
In many countries the number of women engineers is small. The main reason is that women lose interest in engineering at a young age. "We want to let the girls know there is a way for them," said Monica Philips, one of the engineers.

I like watching TV very much, for I think it has many advantages(好处). First of all, watching TV can give us a good rest. After a day's hard work, we need a good rest. Watching TV can make us relaxed because of the pleasant music and TV plays.
Besides, watching TV is entertaining. There are many kinds of entertainments(娱乐), such as sports activities, concerts, plays and films all over the world at any time. It's not possible for us to go to every place to enjoy all the activities in a short time. We need over ten hours to fly from New York to Paris, a week by train from Beijing to Moscow and an hour to drive from Queens District to Manhattan District. But just one second, TV can bring us from a basketball game in New York to a fashion show in Paris by changing the channels.
Most importantly, watching TV is educational. Our children can learn different kinds of subjects through the educational programs and the special reports on TV. It's easy for them to learn Chinese from a Chinese teacher in Beijing and to learn Russian from a Russian teacher in Moscow. We can even learn how to behave(表现) well from the TV plays and a teacher can teach many students without a huge classroom.
