Doctor Green gave the students in Great Eight a class. After finishing it, Doctor Green gave time to the students to ask questions and answers about healthy eating.
David: It is said that we shouldn't eat between meals. Is that right?
Doctor Green: Eating four to five meals can help you control appetites(食欲)according to lots of studies. So we can eat between meals.
Paul: my classmates Lily always keeps having breakfast. Is it true that breakfast is necessary?
Doctor Green: Of course it is. Studies show that eating breakfast can make you energetic and help you keep eyes on what you do, and keeps good mind.
Adam: It is better to get thin when we skip meals, isn't it?
Doctor Green: In fact, skipping meal can't make you thin. Studies find that if you skip meals during the day, you will be heavier than people eating the right food four or five times a day. When you skip a meal, you may be slowing down your body's metabolism(新陈代谢)and making your
body need fewer calories(卡路里)and turn the rest calories into fat.
Soap operas from South Korea have been popular in China for more than twenty years now. So it is not the first time for the soap operas made in China to feel less popular. But this time, they are facing more difficulties, for The Heirs(继承者们)and My Love From the Star really made a full success.
A senior official said he sometimes watched soap operas from South Korea, as well as House of Cards, an American opera about politics(政治). These operas made both in South Korea and in America have a lot of lovers in China.
Many people agree that China's soap operas can't be much loved by most Chinese, because they are not as interesting and exciting as those operas from South Korea and America, such as My Love From the Star, a South Korean love story between a time-traveling professor and a famous movie star.
However, South Korea not only provides soap operas but also some variety shows(综艺节目). Where Are We Going, Dad? is not an original Chinese show. We learned it from South Korea although not many in China know about that fact.
South Korea has created many popular shows and these stories tell there's no difference between men and women but in their country men are certain to play a more important role.
Did you go traveling on the train that was named after the letter D?
Named after the letter D, the new trains run at speeds of 200 to 250 kilometers one hour. These are much faster than Z-type and T-type trains. For example, it took people 12 hours to travel from Shanghai to Beijing before. But now it only takes 10 hours. The most interesting part of the bullet train is the revolving(旋转)seat. People can adjust(调整)their seats as they like, so that it is easy for you to talk with others around you face to face. The new trains run between big cities. They make the long trips much faster and more confortable.
All coins have two sides. Many passengers still won't choose the bullet trains for some reasons. The ticket prices of the bullet trains are much higher. For an easy example, a hard seat ticket from Beijing to Jinan is only RMB 90 for T-type trains. But on the bullet trains all the seats are soft. And they cost RMB 153 to 154. On the other hand, the bullet trains stop at the small stations such as Tianjin only for one minute. That is too short.
Do you like eating ice-cream? Do you know how ice-cream spread in the world?
The earliest ice was eaten in China many years ago. People put fruit juice into ice. Later, this idea spread to Italy. Nero, the emperor of Rome between 54 AD and 68 AD, liked to eat ice between violin lessons. He ordered runners to run to the mountain, get snow and quickly run back to the palace. The snow was mixed with fruit juice and honey.
Around 1660, coffee shops serving ice-ream were very popular in Paris. Most of the coffee shops were owned by Italians. The first successful one was opened by a man from Italy named Francesco Procopio.
Ice-cream was probably to America in the early 1700s, and it quickly became the favorite of American presidents. George Washington had ice-cream machine in his kitchen. Dolly Madison, the wife of President Madison, was the first one to serve her guests ice-cream in the White House.
Before ice-cream was sold in stores, it was made and frozen(冷冻)at home. It took lots of work to mix cream, eggs, fruit, ice and salt, and then to freeze it. Nancy Johnson, an American woman made the hand-turned ice-cream freezer in 1846. Five years later, Jacob Flusell opened first ice-cream freezer in 1846. Five years later, Jacob Flusell opened first ice-cream business in Baltimore, Maryland. His business quickly spread to other states.

Many of you may not finish homework until late at night. When this happens, you might wish that you could just leave the homework and go to bed. Kids in Zhejiang province might be able to do so soon.
On Oct. 28, Zhejiang worked out a draft guideline(方案,草案) for reducing the amount of homework students have to do. It's reported that if their parents agree, primary school students can refuse(拒绝) to do homework after 9 pm and junior high school students can refuse it after 10 pm.
Some people believe it will help students feel happier and healthier after school, China Daily reported. However, students still need to get good scores on their exams in order to get into a good college. This might make parents worry that their kids could do much worse in school.
Others also point out that students might find more excuses(借口) not to do their homework. "What if a student just puts it off until 9 pm?" one person wrote on Sina Weibo.
Kate, my pen friend, is student at Sunny School. She works very hard, so she always gets (good) grades than others.
She has some healthy habits now. However, a year ago, she was different from now. She often(feel) tired after a day's study, and she didn't want to do any sports after school. Her parents wanted her (exercise) every day. But she said that she didn't like exercising. After dinner, her parents asked her to go a walk with them, but she only stayed at home and read(book). On weekends, she never went out to play with her friends. She just spent her time(watch) TV or playing computer games. That was (real) bad for her health. Her parents worried about her lifestyle.
One day, her teacher talked to her about her lifestyle asked her to change. Now she walks to school and exercises every day. On weekends, she often plays basketball with her friends. She thinks is good for her to take exercise every day. It helps her to study better.
