    Ne Zha, which officially opened in cinemas in China, has got rave reviews and is rated higher than Monkey King: Hero Is Back. It is also China's first 3D animated (动画的) feature movie with the IMAX format (格式).

    Since July 13, previews of the movie have taken more than 140 million yuan at the box office and the movie has a score of 8. 8 points (out of 10) on China's largest filming rating site (评分网站) , Douban.

    Ne Zha has more than 1, 300 special effects shots, and it took over 20 Chinese special-effects studios, employing more than 1,600 people. It took Yang Yu, 39, the movie's director and screenwriter, two years to complete it, and the movie was in production for three years. It is the most complex animated production ever made in China. In Yang's movie he is fighting against prejudice (偏见) : Ne Zha is hated and feared all the time. But Ne Zha believes his fate is not predetermined (预先确定的) and that he can choose to be a demon or a god.

     "After watching so many domestic animated movies, only Ne Zha and Monkey King: Hero Is Back have made me shang tou (obsessed or fascinated) ," a Weibo user commented under the promotional video. "I couldn't believe a domestic animated movie can be created with such a well-developed story. I'm sure Ne Zha is going viral (走红) this summer!" reads another comment on Douban.

    Each different part of China has its own special forms of traditional art. These usually try to show the things are important in life, such as love, beauty and family. The most common things, from paper to clay to bamboo, are turned into objects of beauty.

    According to Chinese history, sky lanterns were first used by Zhuge Kongming. He sent them out (ask) for help when in trouble. Today, sky lanterns are used at festivals and other celebrations. They (make) of bamboo and covered with paper. When the lanterns are lit, they slowly rise into the air like small hot-air balloons for all to see. They are seen as bright symbols of (happy) and good wishes.

    A small town named Bundanoon in Australia has decided to stop the sale of bottled water. They say that bottled water can cause problems. Too many resources make bottled water. When people finish drinking the water, the bottles will be thrown away and put into dustbins. So they require local people in the town to stop buying bottled water and use tap water to drink. Visitors are encouraged to get water from water stations in the main streets, and bottles that can be used again with water. The has been supported by all the shopkeepers in the town. Beijing Opera is one of the most important opera styles in China. It is an art on the stage. It has about 200 years' history. It is not only a treasure of the Chinese nation but also a cultural symbol of China. Similar to the western operas, the Beijing Opera is a combination of singing, dancing, martial arts, music and literature, so it is also called the "Oriental(东方的) Opera" by western people.

Beijing Opera uses special imagery in creating the characters. All roles are divided according to sex, personality, age, profession and social status. Hangdang is the general term for role types in Beijing Opera. There are four types of roles in Beijing Opera today. They are sheng, dan, jing and chou. The sheng is the male protagonist, the dan the female protagonist, the jing(painted face) a male supporting role with different characteristics, and chou(clown) a comic or negative figure. Each kind of role has their own face-painting and dressing to indicate their identities.

The opera's performance requires not only the mellow voice but also the proficiency of martial actions. A successful opera actor must suffer from the tough practising period. In the old time, the children of poor families were sent to the opera group in order to earn a living. While now, the real opera artists are well respected by opera lovers.

Mei Lanfang, one of the most remarkable performing artists in Beijing Opera, was born in Beijing into a poor family. His life was bitter and he had no opportunity to go to school, so he went to the troupe(剧团) when he was 8 years old to learn the Beijing Opera. Mr Mei was on the stage when he was 11 years old to perform the plays of the Beijing Opera. He has been an opera actor for more than 50 years, performing hundreds of traditional plays and over 30 modern plays. He portrayed many bright and lifelike female figures on the stage and became the model in Chinese Beijing Opera and even within the entire artistic circle.

French artist Claude Monet put the last 30 years of his life to water lilies .He built a huge lily pond (池塘)in his garden and painted it again and again ,at all times of day ,to try to catch the changing effect (效果）of sunlight on the flowers and water .

2021 is the year of the ox (牛). In March, a set of stamps about the famous Tang Dynasty painting, Five Oxen, came out. It allows more people to know better the great art of ancient China, as well as the importance of agriculture (农业) in history.

Han Huang (723-787) was the painter of Five Oxen. He worked as a government official in the Tang Dynasty. His paintings were loved by many because the animals he painted were so alive. Unluckily, Five Oxen is probably his only painting left.

Five Oxen is one of the best animal paintings in China's art history. In the painting, the five oxen are in a line. They are of different colors and shapes. And each has a different appearance (形态), walking or standing, holding their heads high or low. With lively expressions and bright eyes, the oxen show the spirit of doing hard work without complaints (抱怨). As the name suggests,    ▲  . It makes people focus (关注) on the oxen themselves.

The painting was missing in 1900. Luckily, it returned to China during the early 1950s. However, it was terribly broken with many holes in it. Great efforts were made to save it. Now Five Oxen, probably the oldest Chinese painting on paper, is kept with care in the Palace Museum in Beijing.

Many people think finger paintings is just something for children. Iris Scott, an(美国的) artist, certainly disagrees. For years, she has been creating paintings using her fingers, rather than brushes. It turned out that this was a perfect way to produce amazing works of art.

Scott picked up finger painting by accident. One day in(八月), 2011, she wanted to paint some yellow flowers. However, all her brushes were in use. Scott was eager to get the paintings done. Now we can see lots of talent shows on TV, from The Voice of China to Sing My Song and so on. This kind of program is quite popular, especially with young people. It now has great impacts (影响) on their study and life. There are some reasons behind the tide (潮流) . To start with, young people need role models to learn from, so many of them are crazy about the winners in these programs. They often wear and speak the way the winners do. Secondly, young people are finding ways to show off their talents or relax themselves. So many boys and girls are interested in joining in or watch such programs.

Every coin has its two sides. On the one hand, watching the talent show is a good way to relax and to make us happy and excited. On the other hand, as students, however, we should spend more time on our schoolwork. And as you know, it is always expensive to watch a live (现场的) talent show.

The author tells the story from Yasmin's view in (three) person and from Ruby's in first person. The author takes turns telling the story from the two views. It's such a great idea.Ruby's story, I feel like I'm in Alaska facing the same problems as them. I can't put down the book even for a second I want to know what happens next.

I (move) by Yasmin's spirit as well. I cried when I saw Matt and Yasmin together at last.  (they) love was the reason that they both kept going.

Every student should read one of the plays by William Shakespeare. It will be a chance to read some of the most amazing poetry（诗歌）. But it will be hard. Shakespeare didn't use language like us.

William Shakespeare lived in the time of Queen Elizabeth Ⅰ. The language at that time is known as Elizabethan English. Why is it so difficult to understand the plays of William Shakespeare?

One problem is the meaning of the words. Though about 95% of Shakespeare's words are still used in English today, a few of them now have different meanings. For example, the word "weird". To us, it means strange. In Shakespeare's day, it meant being able to see the future. Another example is "quick". It now means fast, but 400 years ago it meant alive.

While word meanings may be one problem, Shakespeare's order of words is another problem. Words are usually put together in a certain order in English. For example, we usually say, "John caught the ball." But Shakespeare was a poet（诗人），and he did not have to keep language rules. He would sometimes use the form, "John the ball caught." He did this to make the beats and sounds of each line of his poems come out a certain way. But any high school student can easily understand Shakespeare's creative word order. The problem, it seems, must be something else.

The biggest problem, perhaps, is understanding Shakespeare himself. He was, after all, a poet. Even great modern poets write things that readers might have trouble understanding.

Students will always have trouble understanding the language of Shakespeare. But if they don't give up, they will enjoy the greatest works written by the greatest of poets.

Releasing the beasts

In the summer of 2020, the first three episodes (集) of an animated series called Fog Hills of Five Elements (《雾山五行》) (评分).

The series was made by animation studio Samsara，which was started by Lin Hun. It uses ink wash painting (水星画) a traditional style of painting in China. The series characters are painted in thick and striking (不同寻常的) (背景) clouds and fog can be seen among mountains end rivers.

Lin is a big fan of paintings Hike A Panorama of Rivers and Mountains《千里江山图》which was painted by Wang Ximeng of the Song Dynasty (960﹣1279). Lin was also inspired (启发) by painting of Zhang Daqian (1899-1983) (发墨发彩画法).

Lin and his team tried other styles before deciding on ink wash painting. "This is the style we all love. It can show our taste and keep traditional culture，" Lin told Bilbili.

However, the ink wash style takes a lot of time to paint. Animators paint all of the backgrounds and characters by hand. They spent four years making the first three episodes. The studio has only six staff members because it has been hard to find animators who still they are looking for more animators to join them as fans wait for future episodes.

China has accepted western fashion and technology as it has developed these years, but a lot of young people are turning to the past for their clothes choices and putting on traditional "hanfu".

As the government encourages the renaissance (复兴) of traditional culture, hanfu is getting more and more popular with the teenagers. Every year, we can enjoy different hanfu shows around the cities. These shows bring us back to the Han dynasty (汉朝). We learn more about the history, culture and beauty from them.

Hanfu hasn't been in the same style since the Han dynasty. However, this kind of clothes has something in common. They all have large soft robes (袍子), with sleeves that hang down to the knees, so the hands can't be seen.

In modem China, the hanfu lovers are from history fans, cartoon fans to clothes fans.

"Clothes are the basic part of culture, so both the traditional clothes and modern clothes play the same role in culture," said Zhang Jun, a famous reporter. "If the people and the country do not even understand our traditional clothes or don't wear them, how can we talk about other important parts of our culture?
